It's a lot harder to get accurate stats about how many Iraqi civilians have died. Prolly, you'll just get estimations.

The death toll for Americans remained at 2998 today. Far more Iraqis have died, both innocent and insurgents. Estimates for the innocent range from something like 15000 (Bush Administration) to 30,000 (Maliki estimate) to over 100,000.

Someone estimated 400,000-900,000, by measuring the death rate before and after the war started. Which is a bogus way to get a death toll.

The numbers vary widely, and wildly.

The Lancet study uses the number 600,000; however, this is not just Iraqis killed by Americans, it is deaths due to violence, which includes not only violence from American troops but also random crimes, government violence, and sectarian conflicts.

They refer to this as "excess casualties"; in other words, based on the country's pre- and post-war casualties, more than 600,000 Iraqis have died during the occupation than would have died during the same time frame in the absence of the invasion.

It depends on which side of the arguement you speak to. The estimates go from as low as 30 Thousand to over 600 Thousand. Most people agree that it is somewhere over 300 Thousand. Pretty sad.

I heard last night on CNN that Saddam killed almost 1.3 million innocent people during his time as a dictator. The terrorists killed 3,000 innocent Americans on 911. You people don't seem so concerned about those numbers. Why is that?

They count all soldiers who die in Iraq.....And those who die 5 or 8 days later due to the war. Then the rest of the troops eat crow.
