I needed to go to the Gamestop in Merced Mall, but I wasn't sure if they would be open tomorrow. I don't want to drive 45 miles to find out they are closed.

Most Major Malls will be open 10 AM to 6 PM for New Year's Eve and also the same hours will apply for New Year's Day.

I would recommend calling them in the morning to find out their hours. They may also have hours posted online. Stores and restaurants don't generally close early for NY Eve. However, they usually close earlier on Sundays than other days of the week.
