ABSOLUTELY!
Denominations are religious factions invented by man to group people with disparate beliefs.
Although the principle foundations of Christianity are the same in each case (the creation and fall of man; the virgin birth of Jesus, thus fulfilling the prophecy of the coming Messiah; His ministry on Earth; man's salvation through His death and resurrection; and the promise of His 2nd coming to rapture His people and to defeat Satan once and for all), there are differences in opinion on smaller matters. i.e., "speaking in tongues," baptism, dancing, how to worship, prayer, faith vs. works, etc.
Denominations can somewhat limit our worship experience. By holding fast to the doctrines of a particular group, you are boxing God in (so to speak). God can only do what you're believing Him to do. If you don't think you can walk on water (because your "church" says you can't), then... well, you won't!
Biblically speaking, we Believers ARE the church... each one a member of the Body of Christ. We should all be seeking a PERSONAL relationship with God based on our individual experiences, not trying to conform to what another Believer/church does, since no experiences are exactly the same.
As His children, we each have a different and special relationship with the Father, the same as with any parent-child relationship.
Everyone should study to show their OWN selves approved. Don't ever just take anyone's word for it, especially when it comes to spiritual truths (even a pastor's).
Always ask for a 2nd opinion, either by reading the Word of God or by praying for a Rhema Word from the Spirit of God.
Note: the most popular denominations in the Bible were the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and you know what Jesus said about them. Right? (Matthew 15:1-14)
GOD Bless!

Searching the Bible is the only true way to the true denomination! If God told me that something was wrong in my beliefs, I would gladly go and search it out. I want to be as close to Him as I can!! He's my Best Friend! =)

Yes, I think people sometimes become too caught up in specific titles, and in this case, denominations. I am a member of a Baptist church, and am happy with this because in the church I attend, very little focus is put on the denomination. I'm always a Christian first, and you can praise God just the same whether you're in a Catholic church, United Church, even in the middle of some field.

I do not go to a church because it is a particular denomination. I go to a church because it teaches the truth. I grew up in a Methodist and then a Lutheran church. That was before I gave my life to the Lord. Since then God has sent me to non-denominational churches, but if He asked me to go somewhere else I would. Because it is Him I worship not the denomination.

Which 'god' are you talking about?? There are many 'gods'., but only one 'true, almighty' God who is also the creator. Satan, who the Bible calls the 'god of this system of things' would love for everyone to become 'Wiccans' or 'Satanists' or for that matter, any religion that is in contradiction to what the Bible REALLY teaches. It doesn't really matter what you believe, If it ISN'T in agreement with the Bible, IT IS WRONG and serves Satan's purpose just as well as if you were outright worshiping him.

I would go see a shrink if I heard 'G-d' talking to me, lol
Personally, I'm of my faith (Jewish) because it's a part of not only my religious identity that I was born into, but also what I learn about the religion makes sense to me. The more I learn, the more I grow and want to grow as an individual. I respect other religious beliefs, but they don't speak to me, to my soul, I guess, the way Judaism does. Though this could be partially because I have a strong attachment due to my upbringing and that my relatives, family are also Jewish and I have positive associations with the religion growing up.
What interests me is people who convert- what draws them to pursue a totally different religion than from that which they are raised?

I find that most people don't even know what their denomination believes. I'm a Methodist, and most of my fellow church-goers don't know that the Methodist church was against the war in Iraq, is anti-death penalty, and doesn't participate in anti-abortion issues. Most Southern Baptists don't know that the SBC was the ONLY denomination that was FOR the war in Iraq. That's kinda scary. . . . . .

Would I leave, yes. I've searched it out for myself through Greek, a doctorate, and reading the Bible through many times.
