Grand Marnier is made with cognac and Cointreau is not. Grand Marnier is smoother and more expensive.

You can substitue one for the other. If you're really, really on a budget you can substitue triple sec for any other orange liqueur.

While they are both orange, they are very different in taste. Contrineau is a lighter orange and has less sugar. If you are making the substitution in an alcoholic beverage there isn't much to worry about. If you are baking the dish, the Cointreau will be very subtle. If you a drizzling it over a dessert-don't use very much of the Cointreau.

They are very similar. They are made from the same ingredients. I'd substitute it.

they taste totally different, so it really depends on the recipe and personal preference. i suggest going to your nearest bar and ordering one of each and decide for yourself.
