Hiii.. My name is Jessica.
I'm 15 years of age, & I have been homeschooled for the past 4 in half years. I am in 11'th grade, And I graduate in the spring of 2007.
You got it, I'll be 16 when I graduate from High-school!
After H-S I intend on getting my Certs ( CCNA )
I have always been thankful for my parents taking me out of the public school systems. I once went to private schools as well, & none of them gave me the right material, Or the one on one attention needed to fully understand and comprehend the work given to me. I absolutely love being homeschooled, & being able to spend the time I can with my wonderful mother!
I was honestly curious to see if anyone else had any questions or comments about homeschooling and would like to share them with me?
I highly recommend homeschooling,
But I am indeed open minded...
So I know what's right for one person,
May not be right for others..... :)
All suggestions, Questions or comments are welcome!
Please do!!

Just to say :
I have always been a soicable kinda girl,
I love to meet new people & take risks,
I love the new experiences and I love to learn new things, And people are different, they all have something to offer as well as something to teach you!
I'm never hesitant about meeting anyone or just confronting them.
Homeschooling has never hindered my soical skills.
For some it might,
But not for me :)
Thanks to all of you for your comments!!
I apperciate them greatly!!!!!
Happy holidays & new year!

I definitely believe in home schooling. I went to a public school and it was terrible.
The funny thing is... my name is Jessica, im 16, and im a college freshman already! I graduated after my sophomore year.
Home schooling allows you to learn or concentrate more on individual interests, while traditional schooling puts equal weight to pretty much every subject matter. The style of teaching is inconvenient, without much merit, and usually doesn't allow the student a liberal environment that home schooling offers.
The only downside to home schooling is the social impact it may have... in many ways, this is a good thing, but many home schoolers may feel idle or not as experienced in presenting themselves to peers.

hey.. I'm 15 also and i have been in public school all of my life and i love it. I love everything about it. I love meeting new people and all of the wonderful opportunities i have a chance to take part in.
I love that a 15 year old like me would have such a great outlook about being homeschooled. I admire you for recieving education the way you do.
Personally i can't imagine being homeschooled. I love going to school and being able to be with all my friends!! I am in student council which helps with leadership qualities and community service which someone like you might not have the chance to experience being homeschooled. I am also in my school's honor orchestra and i have the chance to go to England over spring break this next year!! I think social life is really important during our teenage years and i think being able to go to a public high school is the greatest way to be yourself, make new friends and be able to experience new things!
Public school is definetly for me. I would love to graduate early, but i really don't want to rush my life. Senior year in high school is something i'm really excited about! I don't want to miss out on it! Instead I am going to enroll at the community college and take some night classes where i live so i can get some college credits out of the way. That way i get the best of both worlds!
Hope this gave you some new insight! good luck getting your Certs!!
If you have any questions or just want to talk you can email me! <> bye!!

I know a few people who are home schooled and some are nice but some turned out "different." they don't seem to know how to be social. I am graduating this year (and am the correct age!) but I am very happy that I went to public school. I went to a private school till 4th grade and it was bad!!!!! In school i was involved in many things that I could not have done on my own as well as developed some great relationships with my teachers. Even though I cant wait to graduate I will miss high school and I am glad I went to public school.

I am homeschooling my oldest child and plan to do the same with my youngest as well...I cannot believe how much more my child is ahead of everyone at his level and by ahead I mean what they are currently doing in school and learning. I LOVE IT as well as my 6 year old.
For anyone who is worried about the social part of homeschool. They obviously have not done their research on this. Most communities have a group that has activities, plays, drama clubs-pretty much everything that they have in public schools or private schools so that should be nothing holding you back if you have this in your area and are worried about socializing. It’s the best thing I have done in my childs life and pray I will be able to continue as long as possible.
Congrats to you!! I know your parents are proud

I homeschool my kids. I love it.
As you said, what's right for one person might not be right for others. I would have hated homeschooling because I grew up in a rather dysfunctional family. It would have been horrible. Academically it probably would have been great, because I didn't learn to challenge myself in school; everything came very easily for the most part. But emotionally... Nope.
Thankfully, my dh and I are not running a dysfunctional family, our kids are happy and growing well and homeschooling is just wonderful. I can easily see my dd finishing high school early, not because she'd plan on it, but just because she'd get through everything that quickly naturally.
I think it's great that you already know what you want to do! I just looked up CCNA--sounds interesting!

I totally agree homeschooling is an excellent method of educating a child. With the current school violence and the various unsavory things that kids are currently learning in a lot of schools that is a good alternative. I would suggest if a parent homeschools that they ensure their children get social interaction some other way

When I was home schooled I hated it. I had no friends, I was behind in my education (My parents didn't want to teach me, they always said "home schoolers are supposed to be independent" what the crap), I was very lonely, and I developed an eating disorder because of it. And sadly I'm still struggling with my eating disorder. The list gos on why I hated home schooling so much.
I am so thankful my parents sent me to public school. I'm currently a sophomore in high school and I now have a lot of friends, I play on my varsity volleyball team, I'm getting educated, and I'm just so happy to get away from my family for a few hours. I LOVE public school, I hated home schooling.
But that's just me. I know some kids in which home schooling works great for them, and they love it. I know some who really shouldn't be home schooled. Its the same in my school. I know some kids in which public/private school works best for them and they love it. And I know some who really really shouldn't be in public/private school.
It depends on the person. As for me, public school rocks!

Homeschooling is a great idea for many students.
I particularly suggest homeschooling for students who have special needs because the environment that the students work in can be better controlled. This is especially true for students with concentration problems.
For students with social disorders homeschooling allows parents to identify and correct social difficulties as they arise and homeschooled kids tend to be more tolerant of social difficulties than most kids in public school.

I agree. Much more true to life. My 13 year old daughter picks her classes just like she's in college. She attends once or twice a week and does her studying at home. My kids study what they're interested in learning in their own learning styles, so they retain the knowledge much better.
