I'm guessing you mean MiniDv tapes, and for that the answer is quite simple. Firewire. With Windows XP it's very easy to get the video onto the computer. Just plug the Firewire cord into the camcorder and attach it to the computer. You should get a list of options for what you want to do. Choose the "Windows Media Encoder" option and it should open momentarily. After that make sure the camera is on its playback function and then hit the "Start Encoding" button located near the top in the middle. The video should automatically start playing on the camcorder and on the computer as well. It's turning the video into a usable Media Player format so you can store it on the computer. This process will take a long time so be patient, and if you have a Mac, I can't help you. Also if the tape isn't MiniDv format, like Hi8 or VHS-C, then this won't help you either. You would need more expensive equipment to convert those types of tapes into Media files. Good luck getting your video onto the computer!

MINIDV you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder…. Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) with the intention to acquire video, Firewire to usb won't paintings to acquire video. you will finally end up with in basic terms sound or in basic terms video. Your computer should no longer have a firewire port, so which you will would desire to purchase one and installation it, you will desire to purchase a firewire twine too. Your camcorder got here with a USB twine and that's used for downloading stills out of your camcorder. verify your digicam is in playback mode. in case you have a computer, verify your computer has an empty bay for a card. The wonderful print on your handbook makes connection with firewire (ieee 1394) connection.
