You should not be charged for any transfer of number to another company, Vonage is a good company and service is incredible, I will recommend that if you have Cable Service with Comcast, "DO NOT GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY", with Comcast cable service (not telephone) the performance of Vonage is greater than with any other company, the higher the speed the greater the performance. I have been with Vonage for a long time now, and right now my service is doing incredible.
Good Luck!

Comcast shouldn't charge you to allow a transfer. What I wonder is: would Comcast allow it?

Did you transfer the number to Comcast from a landline carrier (ATT, Verizon, Bell South, Qwest) or get it originally from Comcast? Because I _might_ see where Comcast might allow one of their own allocated numbers to port to Vonage. But I wonder if/how a number from, say, Verizon could port to Comcast, then to Vonage.

In any case, good luck.

Depending on your location, you may get charged up to $5 for your current provider to change your pic assignments over to another provider. I know that when I changed from Verizon to Comcast I was charged $5 to do this.

No they are not going to charge you. These days no matter what phone company you are with they let you take your same phone number with you. Some companies even let you choose you own phone number which I think is very cool.

one component about service organizations, is they are going to do something of their skill to keep you as a shopper, not because they prefer to service you (like they say they do), yet they prefer you money, and by dropping a shopper, they're dropping money going into their wallet Use that truth for your benefit, tell them that you do not thoughts switching, because it would want to be a similar service lower than a diverse call (and some different diffused ameliorations), yet that you do not favor to offer up your huge form, and if (depending on the FCC guidelines they're attempting to push onto you) ought to regulate your huge form, then you truthfully will replace your telephone service to (insert different telephone organization right here), even as they get understand that they are absolute to assert something like "we are able to do the perfect we are able to to keep your telephone huge form, yet we received't make any supplies you" or something like that, and considering they don't desire you to change amenities, there's a extreme danger you may keep your huge form Or in the journey that they don't help you keep your huge form, do precisely what you threatened, register for a diverse telephone service, wait about a year to so, and make contact with lower back and characteristic your service switched lower back to Comcast, and considering you're a "new shopper" they ought to have the large form move plan, or if not, say that you'll keep inspite of service you switched to, considering they prefer you as a shopper, they are going to in all likelihood take that danger and assist you keep your huge form, in the different case, the different service is in all likelihood extra effective for then you definitely I easily have in no way considered a topic the position threatening a service organization (is fairly) that you may want to go away them in the journey that they don't supply something or enable some move or something, did not artwork, because in the journey that they did not, it really proved that they did not care having you as a shopper
