A fake seat belt is more offensive because there is nothing to buckle up when being forced to.

Let's overlook the fact that the few seconds it takes to buckle up just might save your brain from getting pushed out your nose. Why not use a seat belt? Are you so macho that you figure you won't mind putting your face through the windshield? Or do you just like to tempt Fate? In that case, pop your air-bags, replace the safety glass in the windshield with window glass, get rid of the good tires, and braking system. Go all the way.
I visited a nursing home where a friend worked. In one ward there were 5 men, ages 20 to 40, all spending the rest of their lives in a bed, wearing diapers and being feed though tubes. They were bikers who refused to wear helmets. Sissy stuff. Now we, the taxpayers of my state, will pay for their care for the rest of their lives, because they are brain-dead. Can't put them out of their misery like we can an injured animal. Too bad they didn't do the job up right when they could still ride without helmets. Would save us a bundle.
I have a niece who wasn't wearing her seat belt when her husband ran their car down a cliff. She went through the windshield and cut her face to piece. The ER doc cleaned her up, but they never had the money for reconstructive surgery and they didn't have big insurence. She was 18 when it happened and 20 years later still looks like the bride of Frankenstein's monster without the trauma make-up she must use. Some things cannot be fixed, so why not avoid them in the first place?
Automobiles are bigger, more powerful and faster than ever before. They are also more able to protect us as we hurdle down the highways at 80 mph talking on our cells. If we are going to drive at high speeds on freeways and highways while talking on our cells, listening to our Ipods, drinking our Starbuck's and putting on our make-up/combing our hair, we really should take advantage of every safety device the auto makers and insurance companies can give us. And if morons refuse to use these devices in violation of the law, I think their insurance companies should be allowed to refuse them coverage. You get hurt, pay the ER out of your own pocket.
Fake Seat Belts? Grow up!
By the way, in California we have NOT repealed any safety laws nor have they repeeled (does that mean they put the peeling back on?) any oranges.

What you imagine we are allowed to make descision on our own? same deal as helmet guidelines. Its loopy to not placed on them. in my opinion i imagine that insuranc agencys must be compelled to reduce prices in states which have seat belt guidelines. after all its extra about money isnt it? I dont imagine the state or insurance organization extremely cares in the journey that your lifeless or permenantly injured different then the actual incontrovertible truth that the further injured you're the further money they ought to pay. for instance shall we are saying i'm at a end sighn and that i'm not donning my seat belt and that i'm rear-ended troublesome sufficient to eject me from the vehicle. that could want to be a 40mph collision good quantity of damadge to the verhicle yet my well being middle charges will be huge assuming i live to tell the tale and am not run over by the vehicle or yet another verhicle on the intersection! If i had my seat belt on interior a similar challenge i does not bypass everywhere and my injuries might want to be very much a lot less reckoning on the verhicle and or airbags i'd even walk awey with scratches and minor wiplash. To the peace of mind organization on that celebration the really differance is the money flowing from there account into mine. So why is there no benefit to the drivers that loose the liberty of decision on the kind of count number? in my opinion i merely imagine the politicians are in mattress with the peace of mind brokers (yet in MA there are a whopping complete of i imagine 9 vendors (not brokers vendors ) ) you're good tho fairly contained in the full usa we'd want to consistently have a decision about it. not that i might want to ever not placed on mine inspite of the indisputable fact that it truly is going to be MY decision.

Why is forcing stupid people to do what they ought to do on their own offensive. Of course with technology the way it is today, we could repeal seat belt laws and require automakers to devise a system that would prevent a vehicle from being operated without the seatbelts in their appropriate position.

You're spending more time on this subject than it takes to buckle a seat belt.
Why don't you look up statistics to see what percentage of people actually get trapped by a seatbelt versus how many die cause they didn't wear one?
If it's a really bad wreck, you'd be more likely to be trapped by steering wheel, dashboard, etc than by your seatbelt.

you are not forced to buckle up
you could just pay the fine every time.
what other laws did they repeal?
we still have child seats, antilock brakes, traction control, absorbing bumbers, side impact protection and tons of airbags
cars are much safer than before, thats why auto insurance is getting cheaper
