You can't use hair dye on your eyebrows. There are special products out there for either bleaching or dieing your eyebrows. Nothing from your head should go on those brows! You can pick it up from any Sally Beauty Supply.
Good luck!

Yes, yes and YES. Never EVER go to a salon that puts the same chemical they just put on your hair on your eyebrows. In California (and I imagine in other states) it's ILLEGAL. Hair color and developer have both ammonia and peroxide in them. Having them that close to your eye is crazy!
If this will convince you further, I am a cosmetology student, and I was bored and coloring my hair at home one night. I was being careless, and a little lock of bangs fell into my eyes (and I mean TINY bit of hair, with hardly any color on it.) I was using a color line that has really low levels of ammonia, and i had color in my eye from the time it took me to put my eye under the faucet (which was about 3 seconds.) It was the worst pain I have ever felt, and I have not only windburned my eyes before, but accidentally got a papercut on my eyeball (don't ask.) The pain was unimaginable - worse than any I had ever felt. I rinsed my eye for about 10 minutes before I decided to call poison control. They told me to stand in the shower, let water run onto my eye with my head tilted to the side to let any chemical away from my other eye. Long story not terribly short, my eye burned for two days. Think about what it would have felt like had I been using normal ammonia content color! Yikes.
Anyway, danger of pain, damage and possibly blindness should deter you. HOWEVER, there are alternatives. Roux makes a line of lash and brow tint (brown or black) which works really well, and that's what it's made for, so it's not dangerous on a haircolor level. I wouldn't go putting this stuff in your eye just to check, though. Anyway, it's pretty easy to use and can be brought at Sally's Beauty Supply. I have red hair, therfore red eyelashes and eyebrows. I had some of the other students tint my eyebrows brown and my eyelashes black. Getting to the color I wanted took a few applications, but it's great it you're worried that it's too dramatic. Each application is very subtle. If you have an adept girlfriend and a half hour to spare, you could give it a try. I assume that other non-beauticians have access to buying it since it's available at Sally's, which is open to the public (Some states, like Colorado, have made even eyelash and eyebrow tinting illegal for licensed professionals) - if you're worried about doing it yourself, GO TO A SALON. Hopefully the state where you live allows it. It's pretty cheap. Just be careful whatever you decide!
Like I mentioned, there are also salons out there who tint eyelashes and brows. Keyword - TINT. Whatever you do, make sure what they are putting on you is NOT what they put on to color hair.
Good luck!

everytime I color my hair I do my eyebrows too! all you do is make sure it just gets on your eyebrows and don't leave it on more then ten minutes. I've never had any problems with it and have done it at least 5 times. You'll be fine..go ahead and die em!

Drs. will tell you never to do this. Professional beauty salons say the same thing - I suspect they prefer you go to them so they can make some $ from you? But one answerer said her mom's been doing this 'successfully' . I don't think I want to take this risk at the expense of my vision. You have to be the discerning one now.

Blindness is a distinct possibility, as are other situations--burns, swelling, all not at the same level as blindness.

I've never done it, but you may want to go to a professional to have it done and not risk blindness.
