How can the catholic church condemn homosexuality while so many of their priests are molesting little boys?

I'm straight, myself but just read something a gay person asked and this thought just popped into my head.

We only know about the priests who've been caught and exposed. The church hides and protect the offenders when they find out first.

There is no excuse for priests molesting anybody.

However only a very few of the over 400,000 priests in the world are guilty of this horrible crime.

If only Churches where no member had ever sinned were able to tell people what is right or wrong then no Church would be able to function.

Churches are full of sinners trying to become saints.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

Because the Catholic Church is the largest denomination. The incidence of abuse are much more likely now in any other Faith, and much more likely in School than in a Catholic Church. By the way, most Child molesters are MARRIED Men, not single Men. You should look into the steps that the Catholic Church has taken. Education for any adult that works with kids, background checks for the Priests AND anyone else who works with them, ect. Some of our Protestant Brothers and Sisters have decided to not adopt these changes, I STRONGLY suggest they do. They will be next. On another note, why did you stop at the age of 13? Warning: Political correctness has gone out the window.

The reason we have so many molestation cases today is because during the 60's, the church was low on students at the seminaries. They took in a lot of people without much background check and without much training as priests. That's where all this is coming from.

It should be known however that the Catholic Church has in no way ever encouraged molestation. These priests that you speak of are not following what the Church says.

The Catholic church should condemn homosexuality. The priests that are guilty of the mentioned offence should be FORCED to leave the ministry and be punished by the law(s) of the land. No person who violates the scriptures is worthy to be a member of the cloth and I certainly do not wish to be associated with them. Sin is sin - even in the church. Learn-ed ministers should be the last to break God's laws and should never be involved in attempting to destroy the life of one of their young parishioners

Good question, isn't it? But actually, not that many are. It is just a bad few. What gets me is so many people think homosexiuals are just great; yet condemn the church!

You find child abuse in any group. Rabbis, policemen, camp counselors, and teachers and doctors included. And yes; homosexuals are included in that; although not all of them abuse children. The list just goes on and on. Just watch Dateline!

STOP being so ignorant and flawed in your logic..

Just because SOME priests have been found guilty of paedophilia.. does not mean EVERY Christian on Earth.. all 2 billion of them.. should suddenly drop their beliefs and accept homos..

In any case.. the media has beaten up the paedophilia issues and made them much worse than they really are.. Secondly.. most of the paedophiles were actually from the ANGLICAN CHUCH which is not really widely accepted by true Catholics anyway.. Anglicans believe in the "fear" of God.. whereas Roman Catholics.. believe God is forgiving.. very different way to exist..

I think many other religions..especially the Jewish religion has a much longer history of child abuse.. in fact child sacrificial rituals were a common part of Jewish religion up until the 1750's.. if you check the history books its all documented..

The recent attack on Christianity is nothing more than the media and it's obvious agendas.. it's all essentially lies on top of lies.. ask your priest next time you visit the church if he molests little boys.. see what he has to tell you..

As for the homosexuality issue.. well WHY must we accept it???

The word "marriage" has very specific and special meanings to Chrsitians.. and it relates to the essence of our being.. which is how we all came to be in the first place.. the love between a man and a woman brought us all into this world.. Christians with their thousands of years of history and wisdom.. know this.. homosexuality was around thousands of years ago with the Greeks making it famous then.. and Chrsitians still rejected it.. why would they suddenly accept it now??

Homosexuals can't produce offspring.. so what right would they have ot call themselves "married" by definition a married couple should be able ot produce offspring.. and sure in the off case they can adopt.. the church accepts adoption.. BUT when gays can ONLY adopt.. and simply can NEVER produce their own offspring.. then they cannot ever be called "married" BY DEFINITION!! they can be a couple.. or whatever else they want ot be called.. just not legally married!!

Furthermore and on a more personal note.. homosexuality is disgusting! 70% have STD's most violence against men now is caused by gay on gay.. 80% of female prisoners are lesbians too and perhaps worst of all the average life expectancy of a gay man is 12 years less than a straight man.. the drugs might have something to do with that as well as AIDS.. now WHY would the church promote this lifestyle.. why would the church nurture it and normalise it.. when if everyone on earth turned gay overnight.. we would become extinct in a few generations..

Furthermore.. homoseuality is only leading the blind down the garden path.. like feminism it is used as an effective tool to weed out the weak.. it is also effective at remodelling soceity to "fit" with the warped lives we are now forced to live.. so liberating women via feminnism and allowing men to become sexual deviant gays.. (gay men are also known to have thousands of partners each in their lives-most lasting half an hour).. suddenly.. all the youth are happy to work hard jobs for little money and not complain.. coz on the weekends they can go out, get drunk and have lots of sex.. which is obviously the most rewarding feeling life can offer us..

The sad part about that.. is now we have a diseased society.. women who cant get pregnant.. healthy young men dieing of diseases like Hepatitis and Sids.. and no one complains as long as they're getting their bit out of life.. not knowing they are actually contributing to their own demise through theri very liberalism..

Eventually.. when youth washes away.. these once liberal sexual deviants find themselves with drug problems to get over.. bad self images due to bad sexual relationships.. and thel ist goes on..

Check the dating pages on the internet.. look how many 30 something women are single looking for "the one".. or how many single men are out there and the increasing number of gay type dating sites..

Society is becoming unhealthy and dysfuntional.. and feminism and homosexuality is largely to blame.. because by freeing women too much without the proper guides for life.. has left many young girls to fall into pits at a very young age which they never recover from.. sadly now so many young girls are getting STD's young.. and there is a massive increase in woman having reproduction issues.. also related ot having sex too young..

As for the gay men.. many of them later find they are not gay at all.. this often leads ot violence.. and is why the stats are so high.. subsequently most gay men who get bashed or murdered are done so by their gay partner.. in 90% of cases.. although the media puts the blame on hetro men.. its not true!

My advice to you.. is stay straight.. and ignore homosexuality.. its nothing more than something some weak guys do.. when they can't find a women .. its easier to just find a like minded guy than make the effort for a woman over a longer term.. its the era of instant gratification we live in after all..

They clearly should condemn both. But if they weren't imposing ridiculous religious laws of celibacy upon their ministers that the Bible never commanded or called for, these things might never have occured (at least on the scale that they did).

The Bible says that ministers should be the husband of one wife, and able to rule his own household well, to be qualified to take care of the house of God (the church). II Timothy 3

Frankly I can see why people are so upset with the religious church for all of the crimes against humanity that they have ungodly committed through the centuries (and even in recent times). I regret deeply that people are not able to see the spiritual causes behind the capes and crosses. Men fail. God does not.
