90 x 90 is the standard measurement for a queen sized bed. However, if you are making this for a super plush mattress then you may want to add the additional thickness to 3 sides - side to side and at the foot of the bed.

There are "standard" sizes that vary depending on who you ask. It really depends on what you expect from the quilt. Do you want a pillow tuck? How far do you want it to hang down the sides of the bed? To the bottom of the mattress? To the bottom of the box springs? To the floor? Does your bed have a foot board? How thick is your mattress?

Rather than make a "standard size quilt" you can figure out what size you need based on these questions. If you're making a quilt for yourself, measure your mattress, box springs, etc. Use the link below to calculate exactly how big your quilt should be. If you're making it for someone else, start with the standard size provided and go from there.

You could try checking on qvc, they sell quilts & give demensions for all sizes.
