What does the phrase in the closet mean?? My friend says it means you are straight, does it?? Or does it mean you are in a gay relationship?? I am so confused. Please help!!

Mean's the dude is gay, but keeps it hidden. He isn't comfortable enough with his sexuality to let everyone know he's gay. It's sad.

In the closet means a gay person that is hiding it.

Being in the closet means that someone will NOT reveal that he's gay (or a girl will NOT reveal that she's a Lesbian). They feel these strong desires and feelings for the same sex, but they date the opposite sex.

If you are "in the closet" you are gay/lesbian but you don't want to admit it. If you are "Coming out of the closet" you are gay/lesbian and you're admitting it. Hope this helps.
