The quality from worst to best:

Coax - 480i
Composite (yellow) - 480i
S-video - 480i
Component (red, green, blue) - 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i

If you have a standard DVD player, you will get up to 480p out of the componet, which will give you the best colors and video quality. If you have one of those upconverting DVD players, you will get near HD quality. But, in order to get 480p or near-HD quality, you must have an EDTV or HDTV.

Use the best connection that your TV has.

The green/blue/red input gives you the best looking picture because that is an HD input.

Really depends on what youre attaching it to...red/white/yellow for a normal resolution set, and RGB for a HD signal..
