If you would read there was a time that Jesus tested the Sabbath law, (He healed a man on the Sabbath) to make the point that while you follow the law, it is not absolute to the extent you ignore God's work.
He didn't stone the woman b/c He would have had to stone everyone for their sins. It was an example of grace, mercy and forgiveness. Teaching us not to condemn each other b/c we fall short.

Taking another person's life is not something that anyone else should decide. Have you never done a sin? Do you think anyone should kill you for what you have done? If we are perfect beings (human to the fullest meaning) we should not judge others based on what we know. who is to say why a woman became adulteress? Maybe she needed the money to feed her children? Who is to prove that there was an adulteress woman in company of Jesus?

Jesus didn't keep the Sabbath because He was a Jew, He kept it because it is one of Gods Commandments, and we should keep it along with all the other Commandments.

But back to the question....why didn't He stone the woman ??? Because He is in the business of forgiveness. Look how she repented and became one of His followers after she was forgiven.

If He would have stoned her what chance would any of us have ?

God Bless and have a
HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Jesus was the name Pontius Pilate gave to his crucifixion of two thieves by the inscription on their crosses and they were crucified on the Sabbath, which is why Israel will not have peace in the Middle East until they return to Islam and accept the Quran.

"Jews" are a part of the trick of the Crucifixion as is the Bible and Christianity. There were no Jews at the time of the crucifixion but Yahuudi and Nazarenes of the Bani Israel.

Get yourself a copy of The Age Of Reason from www.Xlibris.com and explore the Bible's verses for the beautiful escape from crucifixion by the Christ with his clever band of companions.

Excellent question! Just to stirr things up, why didn't they wanted to stone the adulterer man? You need two for adultery.

There are different types of law in the Bible. The Sabbath, and Thou shall not kill, are part of the ten commandments. They existed before they were written in stone. The sabbath exists since creation, killing was wrong since the beggining too (Cain and Abel). This law, reflection of God's character was passed from father to son verbally.

However, after the 400 years of slavery in Egypt, the people of Israel were too corrupted with the Egiptians customs and gods. God then gave Moses a very strict code in addittion to the ten commandments. The ten commandments were written with his hand, the others were given to Moses to write down. In this code there were civil, sanitary and moral laws.

Jesus wanted to teach them that they did not need those laws anymore. God is Love

Jesus stated that the sabbath is made for man not man made for the sabbath. He did not stone the adulterous woman because none of her accusers could point a finger at her in their own sinful nature. Judge not lest ye be judged.

he didnt keep the sabbath becuase he was a Jew, he kept it because that's the way God wanted it. God took a rest day while creating the Earth, and thats why Sunday (or Saturday) is reserved, for rest. And he didnt let those people stone those women because they had no right, those people had committed sins too and so therefore if they stoned them, they would also become hypocrits!

Rom. 10:4
Christ is the end of the Law so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness..(Sabbath keeping was a part of that law. God used Christ to bring that Law to its end. Our having a righteous standing with god depends on faith in Christ not on keeping a weekly sabbath)
Also Galatians 4:9-11; Ephesians 2:13-16

Jesus set examples for all of us as part of the teachings of God. Even Jesus healed the sick and lame on the Sabbath. A person can have their sins forgiven on the sabbath. I'm not exactlly sure what your point to your question is.

Because he knew something about her that no one else did.
There are subtle things and individual words in new testament, John 8:1-11 that might help. I ask you to look for them on your own, because no one talks about them.

Contrary to what has been said, there is not a blanket death penalty for adultery even in the old testament that often is called the Hebrew bible.
The reason that this is unknown is because when people quote bible passages they often leave out individual words.

Some passages in the old testament indicate to me that if an adulteress woman stops cheating on her husband, she will be forgiven. The passages about Gomer, the wife of the prophet Hosea are one example. Promises of forgiveness from God in other books point the same way.

If the old testament is completely true, then the woman who stops committing adultery shall be forgiven.

Even in the law of Moses it says that one witness shall not rise up against a man to cause him to die.
According to the book of Exodus, a law that applies to a man would apply to a woman also.

Just because the Pharisees said something to Jesus does not make what they said to him the truth. What does it matter what the Pharisees say about any woman? They thought Jesus was an illegitimate child. Does what they say about Moses' law matter worth a damn?

Jesus did not destroy nor abrogate the law of Moses.
The law of Moses in several places allows for a husband to forgive his wife, and some parts can be taken to mean that God commands it.

If a husband does not forgive his wife for adultery, God will not forgive him(see new testament, Matthew 6:13.)

All the statements in the law of Moses about marriage in general taken together tell me what kind of woman would be stoned to death for adultery:
1. woman involved in incest(see book of Leviticus).
2. woman who deserts not only husband but children.
3. Since law of Moses says life for life, a woman who kills her husband. God has no reason to kill someone who doesn't commit murder.

No woman can commit adultery unless she is married. No marriage, no adultery. Words mean something or they don't.
Where was the woman's husband? The words of Jesus say a lot, but what he does not say is even more telling.
The woman's name and her husband are left out.
Jesus had a perfect opportunity to quote the law of Moses and give reasons for why he saved the woman, and didn't bother.
What you would expect from a man who does not have to give account to any one for his actions.
It's what you would expect from a King.

I've based these statements on the old english bible, the king james.
Individual words in the bible can give more information than thousands of books on bible commentary.

In the interests of justice, compassion, and common sense, the only adulterer that should ever be stoned is when the adultery lead directly to someone else's death.
