I am planning on getting a golden retriever puppy soon. Does anyone know a good breeder that I can buy her from? also how do they ship the puppies if I were to buy from out of state? any info would be helpful.

Here is a link to a GREAT breeder. He is very reputable in our area and we are awaiting our labradoodle puppy from him!! It is a family thing that they have had going to years and I have been to his kennel several times. I know he sells puppys to out of state people also. He is located in Lima, Ohio. I also Know that there was a golden retrieve litter the same day our puppy was born and they will be ready at the end of next week. Hope this helps you and he is a very nice guy!! http://goldendoodledandy.com/

Sorry I also forgot to add that they ship the puppyies In crates.

Contact a few of the local vets in your area and ask them to refer you. Buying a puppy is a big deal and you want to be sure you are getting the best that you can for your price.
Be sure that you get the return policy in writing, just in case there is a problem.
I would try really hard to find a good breeder that you can drive to and see their operation. See the parent dogs and how the puppies were kept and cared for.
Ask to talk to people who purchased a puppy from the breeder last year. Call the people and ask all about their satisfaction with their puppy.
Take the puppy to your own vet as soon as you get it to get it's health checked and see about spaying or neutering dates.
And have fun! Its very exciting to bring a puppy into your life, but keep in mind what a huge commitment it is and get ready well in advance of bringing it home. Ask the breeder to give you a list of what you should have ready for the puppy.
Ok, now have fun...

I would be VERY VERY careful about buying from an out of state breeder. It's ALWAYS recommended that you meet the breeder, see the facilities, and meet at least one of the parents. Pictures can be faked. Papers can be faked. The whole thing can end up a giant mess.

http://www.grca.org/acquiring.htm#choosingbreeder is a link to the Goldie Club of America. It gives some of the best advice of ANY breed club. From there, you can search around the site to learn more and to find responsible breeders.

Good luck to you in your search.

Edit: Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the above breeder is a great example of a Backyard Breeder. This is EXACTLY the type of person you don't want to buy from. NONE of the parent dogs have a "CH" in their name. They make no mention of showing. They make no mention of CERF or OFA tests. I'm guessing it's also against the GRCA rules to cross breed a Goldie - especially for that much cash. AVOID breeders like this.

If you go to AKC.org and find breeder referal you will get the best breeders. They aren't going to be puppy mill puppies and with the AKC stamp of approval you know you will have a well bred pup. Don't ship them, you should meet the parents first so you know what you are getting.
Good luck.
