It's not as easy as you make it sound. Blowing up the current system is not the answer.

And, a government solution simply won't work.

Asking the government to create what will end up being the world's largest bureaucracy will only lead to a nightmare beyond imagination. And it will be way, way more expensive than what we currently have.

The best way to deal with out of control prices in the health care system is to lift the veil of the third party payment system. Put consumers in control of their choices and make certain they have a fair and reasonable way to compare cost and quality.

Combine a strong system of lawsuit abuse prevention so that doctors don't have to waste time and money practicing defensive medicine and add to that a mechanism so that patients can access data to rankings of the best providers and most importantly....their prices.....their real prices....will allow consumers to make choices about their care.

Letting consumers make choices will bring down prices....and lower prices will allow more employers and consumers to afford coverage.

With what? Government healthcare is the MOST expensive, LEAST effective version there is. Remember, government gets all it's money from TAXES, which come from . . . THE END USER, THE CONSUMER. Not the corporation, which just passes the tax cost down to the consumer, BUT YOU, JOE AVERAGE. I'd rather see 80% of my dollar going to health care costs, if the government takes over, it will be more like 20%. And there will be longer lines.

There will ALWAYS be people who don't want to take responsibility for themselves - who would rather have the leather coat than a month of health insurance. You can't fix stupid. You can't fix short sighted, and you can't fix lazy.

Socialism is a great idea - but doesn't work in the real world. Every socialist country has eventually collapsed in great poverty - as there is NO incentive for people to work and improve themselves, because they're waiting for THE OTHER GUY to improve for them. It's failed everywhere it has been tried.

I blame litigators. That's my answer. If a doctor has to worry about being sued for failing to save someone who was going to die without medical attention anyhow, there's no point in blaming insurance companies. Doctors, hospitals.. etc... need to be able to cover the costs of those insipid law suits as they arise.

Its not a broken system. Thats what socialism is all about. Those who can afford should pay for those who cant.
