Yes, i have used it before, you will only have to use it for about a week. I took the batteries out after that time frame and my dog knew not to bark.

Do you know your neighbors well? If you know them well enough, go spend time with them. The more the dog gets to know you, the less likly it is to respond to sounds that you make. Also, the more it knows you, the more it will respond to commands that you give it. If it responds to your commands, then you can help teach it to respond to a "no barking" command. I do not believe in the electronic devices because I find dogs are highly intelligent creatures, most of them on level with a 4 or 5 year old human child. I would not use a high pitched squeal to stop a human child from talking so why do it to a dog? That is precisely what barking is, canine talking, and it should be treated as such. The best way to deal with it is to teach the dog when it is not appropriate to "talk" and when it is. It is a little time consuming but you will get to know your neighbors better and they and yourself will be happier in the process.

I have never heard of one that worked. Maybe you could just say something to neighbors and try to work it out. Also, if they are okay with it, maybe you can take the money that you were going to spend on the other bark thing to get bark collars for the dogs. I have used an Innotek bark collar and have had good results with it. They will only shock the dog when it barks and uses a low level shock unless the dog keeps barking, then it raises the level. They are about $40, but you can shop around and try to find one on sale. I hope that this helps and Good Luck!

One of my clients tried on of those that emits a high pitched sound when the dog barks and it is supposed to stop the dog from barking.
SHe had been using it for a few weeks befroe I came in to help them. It did not work well.
I gave her some very specific thingsto do but she would not follow any of those ideas and she ended up have the dog de-barked. (in humane in my opinion.)
The sonic device did not stop the dog from barking it might have slowed it down some but did not stop it enough to make a difference her her opinion.

I have the same problem reversed!, we have had a few new homes built very close to our home, and new neighbors, they are noisy, and make my dogs bark because my dogs are not used to having ppl 5 feet away from our home.
I have a couple of rotts, and a lab, they DO NOT bark, but my daughters rat terriers bark all the time, now we only let them out for poo poo, and that's it... our whole family cannot enjoy the back yard.. i hate all these new building of new home es, but I guess that is life.
I do no it know about the devices., but it does make ya feel bad to have to say some to ya neighbors.
I have lived in my home for 20 years, and my new neighbor one week after moving in told me to shut my dog up.???
with them moving in with big moving trucks and moving furniture and so on.
I don't see us being friendly' neighbors.
try to be nice..? I guess there really is no nice way to say your dogs are driving me nutts!
good luck.
EDIT: ROSSB76---------which device did you use/buy? I would like to give it a try!

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?uQTr
The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.
The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.
Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.
