No...Gosh does not equal God...Gosh is suprise or wonder according to Webster...God is Almighty a far cry from gosh...Actually, gosh should be used more often or other similiar words because it is refinement when the kings English is properly used and displayed

Gosh! or the even more removed Land of Goshen (a real place, by the way) are indeed ways of saying God! without literally using the Lord's name in vain, in the minds of some.

Technically saying oh my god is taking the lords name in vain so people have tried to curb this offending habit by saying oh my gosh instead. It's the same as exclaiming oh sugar or fudge ect. It's also way cuter when your five year old says oh my gosh. :)

Since thinking the sin is the same as committing the sin, if you think that g-d d-mn is taking the lords name in vain then yes, it's a sin. If you think it's all nonsense then gosh is not the same because it just sounds silly.

I never reasearched this but assume that it is meant as a substitute for it, so in that sense it still is very close , when we should be very far away from taking the Lords name in vain.
If anything be creative and invent a whole new expression .

Edit:
I looked it up in the American Heritage Dictionary and it says in a side note that it is an alteration God.

Proverbs 6:16These six issues doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud seem, a mendacity tongue, and hands that shed harmless blood, 18An heart that deviseth depraved imaginations, ft that be quick in working to mischief, 19A fake witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord between brethren. those issues are the failings which you ought to difficulty approximately no longer doing. asserting "oh my God" "oh my Gosh" or the different subject won't sound suitable yet they are trivial to agonize approximately. the ten commandments have been broken with the aid of guy considering the fact that they have been written. in short Jesus stated to love the Lord first then love your neighbor. those 2 issues hold close all regulation and all commandments. Jesus knows you will make errors on your existence. in case you belong to him then all your debt to your sins are paid for. we could difficulty approximately what relatively counts instead of issues that particularly are trivial.

Those who say, "Oh my gosh," are trying not to take the Lord's name in vain.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Jam 5:12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
Be very careful with the use of the name of God or any other "replacement word" swear.
