I call that person a 'True Romantic'. It is wonderful to see hope and try to nurture it to blossom. Never change.
I will tell you a little story, had a high school sweetheart, well at least I thought so. Loved him so dearly, we were excellent friends and every minute seemed a gift. I once walked five miles there and then back to visit him at work in the mall, just to say hi.
Three different times I offered my love, each time he was kind and told me he just didn't feel that way. Years later he told me he was gay. I cried for days but never told him. That was 16 years ago, to this day we are still excellent friends and I am greatful that I liked him so much then.
The reason is it taught me how to play it 'cool'. Many times I have moved 'just right' and found the right moment, said the right words and got a chance to explore other people I liked. Only instead of being rejected, I was loved back. I would not have learned the signals without my sweetheart's rejections. Believe me it is just that, learned signals.
So if it is tears, cry them and be happy you are learning about love, it is a tough lesson. And if it is love, enjoy, it is always worth the risk. If your feelings are honest (and the other person's) then you will always have your friendship.
