I would get her a set of paint, a canvas, and some brushes. Or you could get her something else art related- like a watercolor set, a set of pencils, a sketch pad...

If she has not painted in a long time, she may not be as interested in oil painting as she once was. Before gifting her with paints, canvas, etc., you might want to find out if she is still interested in the hobby. Then, if she is, a good gift would be a gift certificate to her local art store so she can buy what she needs.

How about a little ready made kit with paints, brush or 2 and a small canvas. Include a book about "how to oil paint." It might be just enough to get her started again.

How about a lovely Coffee Table book, one of those giants with a lot of photos? You might select one of oil paintings, particular masters, or something along those lines. Check the bookstores for suggestions on titles/topics.
At my local stationers, Palace Arts (California) there are parasols (umbrella) with beautiful scenery silkscreened (I think) on them. Very nice for shade on a sunny day.

a canvass and some paint.. bright colors like blue, yellow, red, and orange.. and i'd find out where there are local art exhibits/ shows to help get her started!
