there is a chemical that can and has been fatal to dogs found in chocolate. their bodies can't process it and it poisons their system.

Depends on what kind of chocolate... a 10 lb dog can eat up to 3 king-size hershey bars and usually be ok, but it only takes about an ounce of baking chocolate to make them really sick. Call your vet for suggestions on how to make the dog throw up if the dog just ate it less than an hour ago... otherwise, keep an eye on them for illness. Signs of chocolate toxicity start out with hyperactivity followed by depression. Take your dog to the vet if it ate any dark or baking chocolate!

Chocolate is toxic to dogs. Many dogs die from eating chocolate.

Yes dogs can not eat chocolate and yes a dog will die from eating chocolate. I don't know why chocolate kills dogs but it does.

Certain types of chocolate is harmful to dogs---I do believe it is Swiss chocolate or bakers chocolate that is the most harmful. I have a dog that recently ate 3/4 o a bag of chocolate and did not affect her at all. I would watch your dog for a day or so and if they begin vomitting take them to an emergency vet.

There are toxic doses of different types of chocolate. Milk, semi sweet, and bakers. Bakers is the most toxic. You can visit the National Animal Poison Control website to find out your dog's toxic dose. All chocolates can be fatal if enough if eaten. If you are asking because your dog ate chocolate, you need to call your vet or and emergency vet right away to find out.
If you are asking just out of curiosity, chocolate is not good for them. Even less than their toxic dose can cause severe GI upset.

YES!!!!!! Dogs build up a toxicity to chocolate. The more they eat they will die. You should never ever feed your dog chocolate.

If they eat enough of it, yes. However the amount that can kill depends on the size of the dog and the type and amount of chocolate consumed. The darker the chocolate, the more toxic it is to dogs.

It is possible, but it depends on the size of the dog, how much was eaten, and the type of chocolate. Either way, it can make your dog very sick or even kill him if he doesn't see a vet if he eats it.

If they eat enough, yes. One hershey's kiss won't kill a dog, but a pound of chocolate may kill a small or medium sized dog, in quite a painful manner. If your dog has ingested chocolate, call a vet and ask them what you should so. If it's only a small amount, you may want to feed your dog to dilute the chocolate (with vet approval) and keep a close eye on him/her.
