Religious folks always raise their children to have the same beliefs. So why can't I?

I think parents have the right to raise their kids as they see fit, provided they aren't teaching them anything that's either self-harmful or illegal. (For instance, if they were to teach them it's okay to drink bleach.)

Regardless of what parents teach their kids about religion [or non-religion], kids will be kids - as they get older, they'll rebel, and often re-examine the 'truths' their parents taught them whether the parents like it or not.

I don't know why I have so much faith in God.I was not raised a Christian. My soul began to cry out one day.I had just enough school religion to know to pray.I cried out to Jesus,He filled the void in my heart.
No matter what you teach your children, they will be found of God.
Just remember that one day you will stand before God.You will give account of why you didn't teach your children about God.If you love your child, you will open every good door.Jesus is a very good door to hold open wide.<><

Not wrong at all. I plan to raise my child without indoctrinating him into any religion or spirituality. I of course will briefly explain to him (and in the most objective way possible) about the existence of religion, the impact it's had on our world, the many different faiths that exist, and will help him investigate almost any of them.

I won't turn him into a "hateful heathen" or try to "poison him against belief", but I will tell him how I feel about faith and the gOd concept. I won't lie to him.

IMO, it is wrong to raise your children as anything other than human beings. They can be shown, in age-appropriate ways, what all of the world's religions are all about, and shown other perspectives too, and by the time they are older, they will have found what makes them happy.

Raise your child to be as loving and kind as you can. Teach them values they can keep their whole life. Teach them what you believe is true, and teach them also that you do not know everything.

In the end, if there is a God, He will let you know if you should have told your children about Him.

Atheism would be the prime way to raise kids. If they feel like they want to follow a religion then they wont have one already pre-fed to them and they can make their own choice.

In the eyes of God, probably. However, they will eventually begin to question things on their own and if they choose to follow a religion then you will have to decide how to handle it.

It would be wrong not too. Religious belief is a pile of crap. There are no such things as gods.

It depends on your definition of wrong. In a religious person's (Christian, Jewish, Islamic, etc.) world, yes it is wrong. In an atheist's world, no it is not wrong.

If you're asking for opinions however, I believe that it is wrong, yes.
