I know it is white, but is there a specific kind of white paint that is used? Does anyone have the specifics so I can get the exact shade? Can paint stores match you up with the exact shade if you have a paint chip?

eggshell semi-gloss white,, its the easiest to apply and most commonly recognized in apartments and condos,,, flat white is used mostly for ceiling color

make sure to use latex not an enamel,,, youll over work your budget and the fumes are significantly different, latex based is much more bearable

the paint chip should tell them the color.
There is no sit color.
you will also need to know if it is semi gloss, flat, high gloss
take a chip large enough and if it is a paint store they should be able to tell you. and i mean a paint store not a large store that carries everything under the sun and a high schooler mixes the paint.
With the age difference of what is on the walls and what you buy you will probably have to repaint the whole area
Ask the landlord unless you are trying to hide something. they mostly keep some around for patching

Here in Southern California the color swiss coffee is very popoluar. Its really more white than coffee. Rarely is a pure white used. Its got to have some tint or its too bright. Ask the apt. manager what kind of paint he used and what the color is called.
A specific brand/color combination is the best and easiest way to make sure its a perfect match. Paint chip is next best bet.
Be sure to go to a paint store, not Home Depot or the like. Here in California we use Sherwin Williams, Dunn Edwards, Frazee, Vista and Everguard.
In my opinion, Behr paint from H.Depot is really difficult to paint with. Comes out good if you do it right but if you don't know how to paint, skip it.

Take a paint chip to your local home improvement store's paint department, or WalMart's paint department. They can match it exactly. Usually, the landlords will buy the least expensive paint possible, so don't feel bad about buying the "house" brand. It's probably what was there in the first place!

Navaho White the most common color. Its usually found already mixed ready to take off the shelf. This is more of an off white. Cottage White is a brighter and whiter color. Remember, restrooms and kitchens usually use semi-gloss and flat or satin throughout the rest. Happy painting.

A lot of landlords will just use basic oi-based white primer... it's the cheapest and allows the person moving in to easily apply paint. Careful though... most landlords will also ask you to paint it back white before you move out.... if so, just do the primer thing... They put 2 coats on....

there is actually a paint color called "contractors beige" its a very generic, uninspired, neutral, boring color---and its extremely cheap. but it saves them loads of time and money always using the same color and never having to worry about matching colors or trying to cover up more bold colors. its just a sad fact of a renters life thta they've gotta learn to live with this color.

Get an off white gloss. You can't clean flat paint.
