Foolish Americans! You all think that the reason we're hated by radical Muslims is do to the war in Iraq. Or some of you may think that it's our support of Israel. Think again. Radical Islamic terrorism has been with us for decades. But until 9-11, it never hit America in such a catastprohic way. Here are many countries who are under attack by Islamic militants, who are not part of the coallition, nor are they supporters of Israel. India Phillipines Thailand Russia France , just to name a few. In India a Hindu temple was being built in a remote region. Wives and children of the carpenters boarded a train to go and see their men. When enroute to see their fathers-husbands, the train was ambushed and set on fire. Ninety innocent women and children were burned to death, because they were related to men who were building a Hindu temple. Christians in Lebanon were slaughtered in masses during the Lebanese civil war. Brought upon by Palestinian Yassar Arafat. Is any of this related to Iraq ?

You do know that you are preaching to the choir with a lot of us here, don't you, dude ??
There are those that--as you say--have feelings that the thing going on right now has only to do with certain this or that's and do not associate the overall thing with the overall thing-----but---hell ---you have people that honestly believe that David Blaine is the devil for God's sake !!!

So, don't be so blinded by the blind that you think the rest of the world is blind---there are hundreds of thousands of us that have an ear to the ground on all of this garbage going on and understand fully what is taking place here---and it isn't a simple "reactionary thing" on the part of these radical a** looney tunes---and --- for all the talk about how it is JUST the absolute FRINGE of the religion----there is a lot more going on within the everyday workings of the "politically correct" application of this "religion" than meets the eye---So---don't think for a second that the rest of the world is asleep on this matter --- you are not the only lonely here !!!!!

Foolish Don. Most Americans realize that radical Islam has been a problem since the 1970's. You are right, it has absolutely no roots in the war in Iraq, but the war is providing propaganda for the extremists to recruit others. It is also dividing alliances between our allies that has provided protection and important intelligence for us foolish Americans.
Americans also understood that the war in Europe and Asia was tragic as well, but chose to stay out of it because none of the conflict had threatened US interest. The axis powers had not made any transgressions against the US other than sinking and destroying some transport ships. But when Japan decided to attack Pearl Harbor the hammer came down and every American was dedicated to winning the war. This is the same thing that happened after 911. Most Americans would gladly support and sacrifice if the focus would turn again to al Qaeda and bin Laden. They are the ones who threaten America. They are the ones who committed acts of war against America, not Saddam Hussein's regime. Iraq might have been a black eye on George H.W. Bush's legacy, but it was not a reason to lie to the American people and start a war.

I believe the first recorded official terrorist attack happened in 1977 in America. But yes, the truth is that it began a lot earlier than most people realize. It was the 70s when the radical Islamics really stepped things up a couple of notches though. Many don't want to know about it in hopes that it will go away on it's own. Doesn't seem to be working out that way though.

"1977 back to top

A dozen Hanafi Muslim terrorists seize 134 hostages in three buildings only blocks from the White House. One man is killed and 12 are wounded in the takeover of the Islamic Center, the international headquarters of B'nai Brith, and the District building, Washington 's city hall. They surrender two days later after negotiations with ambassadors of Egypt , Iran , and Pakistan. 33 "

India is a land dispute over Kashmir. Russia (Chechnya?) is a revolt for independence from Moscow. France was civil unrest brought about by discrimination against Muslims (unfair housing practices, girls can't wear headscarves to school, police demanding papers from Muslims on the street for harassment, employment discrimination, etc.). These have nothing to do with religion.

We foolish Americans ARE hated for supporting Israel and invading Iraq (among a dozen other policies), while Indians, Russians, and French are hated for the reasons listed above. You do know that one person can hate several people for different reasons, don't you? Hate is not a monolithic concept.

As for the Philippines and Thailand, I can't remember what their beefs are about, but I'm sure we're mixed up in it somehow.

BTW, jihad just means 'struggle' in Arabic. Losing weight is a jihad. Quitting smoking is a jihad. You give the word more power than it actually has in its native countries.

A communicate of terrorism falls to the point of politics while a candidate says that the different occasion's being elected could assure a terrorist attack. yet another occasion of "politics of shock" is unquestionably telling the yank public that they'd desire to provide away their liberties and enable maximum folk occasion, the two one for my area, have their way for our own secure practices. one difficulty seems specific to me. utilising terror to combat terror would not artwork. The blitz did not make the British resign. The Israelis and the Palestinians have been attempting to out terrorize one yet another on the grounds that approximately 1947, and neither area is even on the factor of giving up. Time for plan B there. Our invading Iraq has achieved not something to end the insurrection terrorists the two. perhaps it somewhat is time for plan B there too.

Sure they want to throw western civilization back into the dark ages. No science, No technology. we just sit around praising god all day.

The shame is the Arab world WAS the center of civilization and science. The Christians were the backwood bumpkins of the early world. THEN! the Arab world found this Muhammad bullshit and have been going downhill ever since.

Also, I agree with the concept that jihadists look at Israel as a stepping-stone to the U.S., not a cause of their hatred of us.

When the U.S. population can stop focusing on blaming George Bush for everything from the Iraqi insurgents to the price of Oil, and refocus on stopping those who want to kill us, we might have a chance, but I'm not optimistic.
