No. The government likes to pretend that we are. But what have they really done? We've scared Iraqi children, and made the process to get on a plane longer. Let's face it. Another tragic event like 9/11 is totally possible and maybe it's probable.
We have made more enemies from war. People that are anti- America are probably all over Iraq and Iran because of our pointless little war.
The fact that our airports wont let people with weapons on a plane doesn't mean that some underpaid foreigner working as the boarder patrol wont let a dangerous foreigner through.
Hey, Mr Bush? Do more about this situation. Don't try to convince us that we're ready for anything right now because we're not. I knew people in that tower when it collapsed! I'm not willing to loose more people that I love.

Security and freedom are actually opposites. Like it or not (and I'll bet I'll get thumbs down for this) if someone really wants to blow up a building, they can, because there's no law against buying the components to build a bomb, or law against the knowledge to make one. It's harder to "fly under the radar" to make one, but it is completely possible.
A friend's father is a pilot. He has a couple of... I'm not sure what to call them. bomb models? when they're x-rayed, they look like bombs, but when you take them out, they're painted bright orange and have stickers on them that say "this is not a bomb." He's supposed to occasionally pack them in with his bags, to check effectiveness of security. This is only anecdotal, but he says that it gets through about the same before 9/11 than after.
Or take a place where tons of bags are left unattended... like a ski moutain. It would not be difficult to put a bomb in a bag, go to the cafeteria part of a lodge, set the timer, drop it, particularly at a busy time, like lunch, leave, and have it blow up. I believe that law enforcement would eventually find the person who did that, but I doubt they'd be able to prevent it...
So, in essence, no. Not at all. people are more panicky, if anything.

I think we're slightly more secure when we travel by air, but that's about it.
We had the support of the world when we were going after Bin Laden for taking responsibility for the WTC disaster; but have generated a lot of new enemies since declaring war on Iraq for no apparent reason; so in most ways are less safe than we were before 9/11.

When you balance the greater threat we face from Islamic extremists since we invaded Iraq against the almost nothing that has been done to secure our borders, ports, and airports, I'd have to say no. We are very much less secure because we face more enemies than before 9/11 with the same 'safeguards', such as they are.

Much more. We are now better equipped, experienced, etc. One of the great things that Mr. Rumsfield did for the military was something called transformation, and it still in the works. But there is no comparison (for the better) from being in the service now, from the beggining of GWOT. Also, the intelligence agencies are actually funded a bit better, and have been actually passing certain information amongst each other. Of course, airport travel is alot better.

Yeah but it will be some time before the bad asses find a loop hole through the current security. We must be watchful.
