Because they can't think for themselves, and have to refer to those collections of fairy tales to back up their worthless arguments. It's like arguing with a two-year old, isn't it?

Muslims use Quran because:
a) it is a miracle sent to Mohammed therefore from "something" beyond and supreme
b) if you read the Quran there are revelations and things that could astonish you. Things about the world that 1400 years ago were not known and some not yet figured out yet. things like the atom, like what happened with the prophets before Mohammed. if you understood Arabic you can see the greatness in how the Quran was and is. See, Arabs were known of their great interest in literature, it was a great aspect of that era. Anyway, no one was capable and still not capable of creating such great perfected type of writing and description.. it need a whole lesson in Arabic literature.
Therefore... who did it??
That's why we recite verses of the Quran, to show that it was a miracle and there is a God...Got my point?

I believe it is because "man" is best satisfied when he can turn an intangible into something "Manlike." in particular, a story that is written down by men, where God is a hero in manform. Many find it easiest to relate to something that is like us, yet much bigger than us. I think all religious and spiritual beliefs on earth have such legends, mine included. (Ojibwa) But not all express a reward/punishment concept doled out by malevolent entities created by a vengeful God.
In the TRADITIONAL way of my people, (and Native American Traditionals in general.) We follow Nature's Way because it is a simple truth we can see with our eyes. We learn our lessons from nature, we don't need a book to tell us that all life contains part of the "spirit" of the Creator, We see that in every breath of wind, every drop of rain, in every eagle's cry. Yet we know that the Great Spirit/Creator/God....etc, is greater than the sum of all those things... because nothing made itself, and it sure wasn't created by us. We can feel the kinship of our spirits there, telling us we are part of it all, and that everything deserves the same respect, that man is not above the creatures, regardless of what someone's big book might say. It's as simple as that. We don't need a book to prove this, or tell us how ones own spirit should feel. We don't need devils and hells to scare us into compliance with someone's beliefs, We don't need thousands of pages of doctrines and dogmas prepared just to "prove" there is only supposed to be one nature of God (theirs).
I find that regularly getting away from the accoutraments of man, doing without all the "human" distractions. Not listening to anyone "prove" things by being louder than the next guy, is when I see and hear what MY spirit is supposed to see and hear. It is then that MY spirit connects with the GREAT SPIRIT and helps me to understand that which is not apparant, and to see that which is not obvious. It is a personal thing, a heart thing, more than a brain thing.
That is what works for me, If what you are being told does not bring you harmony, then walk away. don't force yourself to believe something just because someone has a big book and shouts it at you, or there are large numbers of people telling you that your spirit should feel just like theirs, and that if you don't believe their way you will endlessly suffer. Your truth is between you and your Creator. I don't really believe we were ever expected to be a bunch of religious clones- do you?
