I have a duncan Hines box of chocolate cake. To make it more dense should I decrease the amount of eggs from 3 to 2? If so should I change the liquid amount as well? or anything else.

To make pound cake (more dense) from a regular box cake add to cake mix:
1 pkg vanilla pudding
4 large eggs
1 cup water
1/3 cup veg oil
bake @ 350°F in a bundt pan for 50-60 minutes.

or you can try this favorite:

Golden Rum Cake
An easy way to glaze your cake is to pour half of the glaze into Bundt pan, reinsert cake, then pour the rest of glaze over the bottom of the cake. Let absorb well then invert back onto platter.

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
4 eggs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup water
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup dark rum

1 Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan. Sprinkle chopped nuts evenly over the bottom of the pan.
2 In a large bowl, combine cake mix and pudding mix. Mix in the eggs, 1/2 cup water, oil and 1/2 cup rum. Blend well. Pour batter over chopped nuts in the pan.
3 Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Let sit for 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto serving plate.
4 Brush glaze over top and sides. Allow cake to absorb glaze and repeat until all glaze is used.
5 To make the glaze: in a saucepan, combine butter, 1/4 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat and continue to boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup rum.

My Dad liked cake heavier, so Mom always added 2 T of vegetable oil to the mix. It came out great every time!

decreasing the number of eggs will result in the cake not rising as much but also being drier, not the option I would choose, best bet is probably to decrease the liguid, possibly substituting the water for milk or cream which will result in a denser but also soft, more rich cake, good luck.

9x13?

You can try baking it as directed and after it cools -slightly- wet a high quality paper towel....put on some oven mits and press the cake down until it is level. The cake will be moist and level.
