umm you shouldn't be asking him to tell you you're pretty...if he wants to tell you he will...now its a different story if u guys are just being silly and u say "hehe tell me i'n cute or tell me i'n pretty".....then he's just being mean....i don't think something is wrong.....well he could be scared that if he lets you think you're too pretty...you'll think you're too good for him and he doesn't want to lose you....so he doesn't want to boost your ego too much....guys get insecure too.......cut him some slack...in a twisted way he seems to care about you

I think he has been honest with you. Male logic is such that it is a waste of time to state the obvious. If he has told you it is because you are too conceited then he is giving you time to 'come down to Earth'. He is still with you? this should show you that you have qualities that he likes about you other than how you look. It appears to me that he is not a shallow person as he see's what is the essence of people not just the superficial surface of looks.
If we have to ask for compliments then we are not secure within ourself. Be happy in the here and now and in yourself. Looks fade away with time, a good personality and heart is there until the end.

What meaning would it even have if you had to tell him to say it. Yeah you kinda sound conceited. The signs should be obvious if he's into you. Some guys just aren't going to come right out and say that stuff. If you need to hear that you are pretty then stand in a mirror and tell it to yourself.

Sounds childish. True beauty comes from the inside and that in the end is what people who want to get married fall in love with.Quit focusing on yourself for goodness sake. I bet it is disgusting to your boyfriend.

If he won't tell you, don't worry about it. He may feel insecure for a number of reasons. For example, he may think that if he tells you that, you might think that you could do better than him. Also, he might think that it is a trick question...guys are like that sometimes. If you are legitimatly looking for a compliment, don't ask if you are pretty...ask does this look good on me? Otherwise, you could come across as acting conceited.

Well I tell you what; if you ASK him to tell you you're pretty, you ARE conceited, and if he doesn't tell you on his own, he probably doesn't think you are; I know even if a girl looked like Jessica Simpson, if she was a conceited b***h she would be ugly to me.

Why would you ask him to TELL you that you are pretty?! I think that is an odd thing to ask. This is something that a man would do if his heart leads him to say it. You CAN'T (or maybe I should say you SHOULD NOT) force someone to tell you that you are pretty. If I was a guy and a girl asked me to TELL her that, she would have been "outta there" !!!

Guys have a problem with being manipulated. Yes, there is something wrong. If you have to ask him to tell you that you are pretty, something is definitely wrong. Either he has little tact or you do.

He might not have appreciated being ordered to tell you that you are pretty.
Stop being so needy and insecure and asking for compliments.
He should say nice things to you on his own. You want him to mean it and not be blowing smoke up your butt.
As long as he treats you great then do not worry about him not telling you wonderful things.
Some guys who say the nicest things are the biggest scum bags to their girlfriends.
Actions speak louder than words.
