Most dentist are off on Fridays anyhow. Many have emergency numbers for you to call and they will take care of you.

PS today is Saturday.

If you have a regular dentist, they will help you in an emergency. They will have a service or emergency contact information on the recorder.

If you don't have a regular dentist, you're probably out of luck. That's probably also the reason you have a massive toothache, because you're not being seen regularly. No dentist wants to interrupt family time to take care of a stranger who doesn't come in except for emergencies.

The others are right, many dentists put in a 4 day week - but those 4 days are 10 hours each. Friday is the most common day taken off. Dentists and their employees have families and outside interests, just like you.

Because dentists are independent. In my area they are closed Saturday and Sunday. Wish my husband could have a 4 day weekend, he works in a hospital. Most work 8am-3:15pm some to 5pm. Hard to get evening appt for daytime workers.

In my recent experience it is because they don’t behave like professionals in a Medical service (IE: Doctors, Nurses, Ambulance, ect). They treat it purely as a 9 to 5 profession and after 5pm they could not care less. No one is saying they need to be on 24hour call. But they should put procedures in place so there is some level of cover. They don’t understand that people can have problems outside of office hours and they rarely make provisions for emergency cover (IE: EmDoc service). They are quite happy for A&E departments to have to deal with the problems, as if they have not got enough to do. To them it’s just a business, nothing more. And they charge you for this S.HIT!!!

They were closed on the Friday before New Years because they wanted to take a 4 day weekend, or to honor Saddam Hussein, or to honor James Brown or Gerald Ford's deaths.

Usually the working business day before a holiday is a good excuse to close so is the day after but I have had the same thing happen and usually if you call your regular Dr. he will prescribe at least some antibiotics ,good luck!

Because most dentists take Christmas week off to be with their family. Mine does it every year. They make tons of money, some even more than doctors so they can afford a week with no income.

Because they make enough money where they can take a 4 day vacation. Try Oragel, asprin, and an ice pack.
