A couple of close guy friends have told me this. I don't consider myself shy or rude, so how can I come across as more approachable?

smile more...look happy and nice..always be talking to a group of people...it makes you look nicer, if all those people want to be around you

my friend has this exact problem and i'm gonna tell her what i told you. Talk with guys. It's that simple. All you have to do is talk and be nice and they will like you. Don't make it awkward around guys by trying to act cool or different, but try to join in with everyone. But, the most important thing is to go on casual dates. Not real dates but casual dates so that guys see that you can be approached. If you're unapproachable, then you need to approach a little.

Not approachable might mean that you appear aloof.
Try smiling more when you are out and around people. You can start a conversation with a guy and show that you are not cold and distant.

It's hard I know.

I use to be told this as well. I just learned to be a little more outgoing and it worked wonders, but it took awhile for me to reach this point, because I'm cynical by nature....I am not a perky person.

good luck.

I was told the same thing. The funny thing is I make my living by getting people to take an interest in me and my products. What I did to change this is I just became more outgoing. I would greet everyone. I would smile and ask questions about them. I made nothing at all about me. I used to me more reserved. It has changed my life. Hold on to the friends that have the courage to share things like that with.

Ask them how they came to this conclusion and work from there.
If you see yourself as not shy or rude perhaps you are what is termed 'reserved'. This is where you allow yourself time to listen and observe, speak when the conversation is of interest to you and quiet when it isn't. Nothing wrong with that.
Perhaps the right man has not crossed your path yet and you have a psychological 'reserved sign' over you? This is not as unusual as it sounds.
Most important thing of all, be happy with who you are and everyone else around you will be also.

Show some vulnerability...drop the attitude which makes it inconceivable to yourself that you are not approachable...just be yourself around others...don't worry so much about being prefect

Good luck meeting people.

To be more approachable you will need to be more out going.
Try to just talk to people and be friendly.
