My 12 week old Retriever pup has decided to start baking for no apparent reason. Any ideas on how to teach him to quit?

Dogs Bark its natural. If you try to make a dog stop barking, whats gonna happen is, someone may try to break into your home, and once they see the dog is not barking htey will take everything you own. Its good to not want your dog to bark, but its also a safety precausion. When its not neccessary then you can hold his mouth (snout) and tell him NO very firm and stern. Otherwise let him be a dog.

get a shock collar for little dogs and put it to the lowest jolt, so when it does bark it gives him a little jolt to stop barking. After about a month or so, take it off of him and he will be used to getting shocked when he barks and he wont bark. If he starts to bark again, repeat the process. Hope this can help!!

Try giving the pup something to eat and something to chew on like one of those bones you buy or a chew toy. This will also teach the puppy what he is allowed to chew on.

EDIT: This is for the rest of the people who can't apparently read more than six words.

Kick it in the voice box...

No, seriously. It's only barking because it's curious or scared... it's tough to make it stop, but it will grow out of it with time when it gets used to its surroundings.

You can use a shock collar or a muzzle. Each time he bark when he is not supposed to shock him or muzzle him up!! Until he know better.

Dogs bark when they are scared. He is scared of something, possibly being alone which dogs hate and are terrified of.
