I was playing online with my Playstation 2, and the thought just crossed my head. I was wondering what other people thought. If we're characters in God's video game system, what happens when he shuts it down?

I'm familiar with Occam's Razor, but when you're dealing with a topic as complicated as the nature of reality, what would the simplest answer be? =)

Addendum: I'm not under any drug-related influence. I don't even drink. If this you think this notion of reality is wrong, can you share your more 'non-druggy' idea of what reality is?

You're pretty close to the truth. according to the Bible, this material world is just a simulation, it is the spirit realm that is REAL.
We are characters in God's game. Immagine if you were playing a game and your "characters" had the power to chose whether or not to obey your commands.

I would have to speculate that we are all playing the game of unreality. We make the best of it, and never do discover the nature of reality.

God is a child playing a board game. We are the pawns, nothing more. Satan is his younger brother. When Satan leaves, god rearranges the pieces. When god leaves, Satan creates strategies. At least one of them is playing fair.
