Really need more details here. I would say you didn't realize anything, except a good opportunity had slipped by 4 yrs. ago. When you are in LOVE, you will know it THEN. Be sure also not to confuse LOVE with infatuation in the beginning.
If this party is still single, try to get together and siege the moment. Happy New Year to you, I hope you start realizing things quicker. Speed it up, life is short. !!!!

If you feel as if you need some closure, try and speak with that person to find out how they felt and perhaps let them know your feelings, that way you will not regret further more and wish that you at some point in your life had said something. if they have a partner i would rethink this move but if you feel that it would make a difference in your favor then take the risk, in the name of love.
if you do not go with this move and want to leave things alone- don't feel that all is lost, be thankful that you knew love, felt it and it was real and that you are now in tune with your feelings- minimizing the possibilities of love escaping you again.
reflection is important in the journey of life and in love, it also makes you better in relationships. x

Make up for lost time. Let him know you've felt this way for so long. In a lifetime, 4 years is nothing compared to the lives you two could have.

Tell the person quickly and hope there's still a chance. Don't do what I did years ago and lose something very precious. Or you could beat yourself up for years afterwards. I still do 16 years later :-(

What can you do? After 4 years the other person has probably moved on. you could try if you like, but I wouldn't get your hopes too high..

if your going out with the person still then let the emotions rule if ya'll broke up don't dwell on the past old times are good but past is past what happens happens it won't change but if you try to go back out with that person then best of luck to you the first time doesn't usually work out anyways i learnt that from my relationships i've gone out with my current G/F 5 times and now we are engaged and happier than ever so ....

Hope it doesn't extend to other things. Like realizing you needed to wipe two hours after having pooped, or that you should have taken that right turn 10 miles earlier.
