If you are at all concerned call you childs dr. They will give you some advice. I do know that the antibiotics can cause a diaper rash sometimes...if he had just startred taking the medicine and then developed a bad cough, maybe he needs something stronger. If he has a hard time breathing or anything like that call 911 and if you are really worried, take him back to the ER. It's your baby you are talking about. Be safe and not sorry. I hope he is feeling better soon. I know how hard it is to be a mom.:)

if the warning on the medication says to stop use if a rash develops, yes you must return to the er and get the little one on different meds.
I would call and talk with a nurse first and get their input, if she says to wait it out, use the steam from a hot shower, go in and sit and pat on the back while taking in the steam this will help break up the congestion in the chest and Vic's vapor rub works wonders as well.
Blessings to you, i know times like this can be stressful.

Have you ruled out diaper rash? If it is a dry cough, consider using a humidifier. Or, if it is a rattling cough, try a dehumidifier, and see if this relieves the symptoms. I woudn't run to the ER, but, I would definitely call the doctor ASAP and get some professional advice. I would also wait to give another dose of the antibiotics until speaking to a health professional, as it may be an allergy, and I wouldn't mess with that. Good luck.

Of course I would worry but you have to consider, the rash, is it a diaper rash? His fever isn't really high for a baby and the cough could be the congestion breaking up. You haven't really given it a chance but, try and call the doctor and see what he has to say.
If you can't get a satisfactory answer then take him back.

The rash on his butt could just be acidic urine diaper rash...as long as he doesn't have the rash all over his trunk, arms legs and face.
If his cough is worse, I wouldn't hesitate to take him back...check his temperature....it shouldn't be higher. The medication may have loosened up his chect secretions, but I'm not there and this should be your call.

I'm a nurse. You do need to take him back to the ER. The reason is because he needs medication to ease his breathing. He is struggling for air being congested. The doctor will give medication to loosen it up for him so he can breathe better. A Neb treatment is what the doctor will give him, it won't take too long and your baby will feel much better. Take care.

If you've ruled out diaper rash, then take him back to ER. Could be allergic reaction. Definetely contact a health professional soon.

Take him back immediately, his rash could be an allergic reaction to the medication.
