Yes there are high % of alcohols that you can buy. I am not sure how Canada is but I am sure you can find and buy moonshine from someplace that can run pretty high in terms of Alcohol content when compared to others. Here are some others that run higher than 40%: Rum 151, Volka "high end", Tequela "nasty hangovers" and others. It is hard finding some of these now with some of the laws and due to people over doing it at parties or whatever function. You have to watch true moonshine since it hit 190 proof and cars can run from it but it can cause serious issue if you drink too much of it such as blindness and alcohol poising which can come from other similar drinks. I believe that if drink that is more than 80 proof which is equal to 40% alcohol so if you find 100 proof plus that is closer to 50% alcohol. In basic math the Proof is double the amount in alcohol or alcohol is 1/2 of the proof. Maybe there some drinks that don't follow this math but for the most part I believe it is correct so if you get really crazy and buy 200 proof that is basically 100% alcohol which I know I would not drinking.

I don't know the alcohol content of moonshine but Everclear is 190 proof and that's as strong as alcohol can get. Either one is too strong so be careful if you drink these. Everclear can take your breath away and is not meant to drink straight.

i have to agree, moonshine has never been rated, but if u drink it i can tell u this, it will flatten you straight out, everclear came as a result of moonshine, because shine was unpure so to speak, a lot of home stills were using copper and other pipes that could cause blindeness, so in order for the goverment to make money legally they came up with everclear.... hope this helps...but shine def has more high input than everclear

Everclear, a neutral grain spirit is sold at 190 U.S. proof in parts of the U.S. where it is legal. For comparison, absinthe (one of the highest-alcohol commercial liquors available) usually tops out at around 70% ABV and ranges from about 120 to 130 U.S. proof. Austrian Stroh 80 rum is an exception with a ABV of 80% (proof U.S. 160).

They are basically the same, but I'd have to go with everclear because its 190 proof (95% alc by volume)- any higher and it would absorb water from the air and self dilute.
