I've always cooked the turkey at 350 degrees, for an hour per every 3 to 4 pounds. When the legs can break off easily, then it's done.

Cut into it and see if the meat is tender. If it's hot and tender then the bird is done. If it's hard and cold then it needs to cook more. It is hard to overcook a turkey so more time is better than less. But it is possible to overcook a turkey. Remember you don't want a rare turkey!

I stick a carving fork into one of the breast and if the juice runs clear it is done. Stick it in several places - the thickest part of the turkey.

Cut a small section in the breast to feel deep down and make sure it is hot and the meat looks done.

look on the tag, it will tell you how much it will weigh. then somewhere on the bag it will tell you how long to cook it. If you threw it away, then just cut into it around 2-3 hours. you can tell because the juices run clear, no blood. also make sure the turkey doen't look raw.

Stick a knife in it in several places if blood comes out then it is not done if all Else fails you could cut it a bit to get the heat into it to be cooked.

Cut a section of it open and examine it. It should be quite hot and smell like it has been cooked. That's the best i can tell you over the internet.

Cut it, and see if there's any pink meat left near the bone. If there is, it's not done.

The juices should be clear, not reddish pink when thigh muscle is pierced deeply.

stick a long stick into one of the breasts...if the juice runs completely clear then most likely it is done.
