Check out the Education Source book for 2007. It's free.

It lists over 1900 colleges and universities across the US and their requirements and also lists step by step instructions for applying for financial aid and grants.

The best source is to apply with the FAFSA form because it will tap into need based financial aid from the state and federal governments along with the college. It is based on your family's income and resources. However, there are other sources to locate more funding for college.

First, a current high school student can obtain from the high school guidance office a list of local scholarships.

Second, the college financial aid office and website will have a list of private scholarships from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes the college major's website will list some scholarships, too.

Third, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for your state and college grants or scholarships. Sometimes, a state will offer scholarships and especially for some fields.

Fourth, the public library has a book listing scholarships. It has some scholarships that can't be located on the internet.

Fifth, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for scholarships based on race, ethnicity, religion, and college major.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on the information you enter into it.

Good luck!

You have been offered some great ideas. Do not pay someone $ for a list of places to apply. Legit ones are free.

Also contact places like your local Lions Club, WalMart, Coca-Cola, any community minded organization or large corporation. I got one from Lady Clairol-for women going for business degrees and a bunch of other small ones. Ask. All they can say is no.
