First of: Don't listen to the cat hating freaks above, they'd leave their own kid on a motorway if he peed on the couch, I bet. I hope they never owned an animal in their life, and never will.
Your cat might have a bladder infection, first thing you should make sure that he is all right. Sometimes cats seem to be naughty but they have cystitis and cant help letting go in the middle of the room, because they can't make it to the tray. So, that's a vet visit, or at least call them up and explain the situation, see what they say.
Is the litter box clean? Some cats being clean animals, they are fussy that way! The way some people are, about using a dirty toilet.
Third: is anything upsetting the cat? Like a new pet/baby, anything making him nervous, like working men making lots of noise in the living room, or him being alone all day with no company of any kind?
Cats are very sensitive and loving creatures, they are upset by change, and they can't tell you with words if something is wrong with them. So they do it by attracting your attention, and what better way than being naughty!
Please be patient with him, and try to work out what might be upsetting him and see if by changing things he stops. I bet he will!
Mine did, once I found out what was wrong.

So the when you were at the vet did the cat have a uti? Was the cat treated for anything? Cats don't like their houses to be dirty, so they'll only go outside of the box to mark territory or because they just can't make it. Do you have any other animals that the cat doesn't like? You can try putting boxes in the places that he's going to see if that helps, or you can also get nature's miracle to clean the areas and get rid of the urine smell so he doesn't keep going to those same spots.

I also suggest taking the cat to the vet to check for urinary tract infection or another condition. If the cat is not spayed/neutered, then this may also be a reason for your problem. Cats who are not fixed will continually try to "mark" their territory.
If the issue turns out to be behavioral, then try placing bowls of cat food where the cat typically pees. Cats hate to go to the bathroom where they eat. Instinctually, they will not go to the bathroom near food.
Either way, you are going to have to thoroughly clean the spots where the cat has gone, or he/she will still smell their own urine and continue to go where he/she is not supposed to. Find a deodorizing pet stain cleaner that is NOT ammonia-based to clean up the urine spots around the house.

Check with a Vet - your cat might have
a urinary tract infection. If not, your Vet
can give you some ideas on what to do.
Have your cat spayed/neutered.
***The advice on dropping your cat 1/2 gas tank
away is cruelty to animals and the person who
suggested that, should be left outside in the wilderness
and try to fend for herself. People are so ignorant.

Hi, this sounds like my situation. About a week ago, I adopted some rescue cats who's mother hadnt taught them anything. They didnt know how to use a litter box or even lap up water. They wouldnt even purr.
Basically, they were both a wreck.
But my family and I trained the kittens to lap up water and they started to purr and sit on our knee like normal cats. The toilet training was the hardest part.
Follow your cat around and whenever he looks like he is going to wee in a corner, pick him up and quickly put him in the litter box. Then, make a digging motion with your hands to show him what to do. If he jumps out, put him back in and try again. Also, if you want to, get some tissue or cotton wool and wipe it on his bum to stimulate him to make him want to go to the toilet.
I swear this works, and ours learnt in about 3 days.
Good luck! + keep me updated! :)

Have you taken your cat to the vet? It is either a physical problem (ours had a kidney problem) or a behavioral problem. The cat will act out by peeing everywhere. If it is behavioral there isn't much you can do. Ours went on my daughters books and on my husband's golf bag. He did it out of defiance because we didn't let him out at night when we were sleeping. He is permanently out now. Good luck.

My cats (3 of them) usually spontaneously have what I call "crazy kitty hour" (smile.) That's where they run away from imaginary things (as if they've seen a ghost), fight with and chase eachother around, and make weird meow sounds. I find it funny and interesting -- and usually I play tricks on them (like waiting behind a door and jumping out) and laugh (we have a lot of fun).
I've figure it out to be either (or both) boredom or lack of exercise. Maybe you should make an effort to play with (entertain) or find a positive way that he/she can get out frustrations (exercise) more often.
UPDATE:
I thought you said "peeling" around, NOT "peeing"... sorry (oops.)

Get him neutered. If there are other cats in the house get him his own litter box. Put his litter box in a very private area. Clean it. Check for bladder infection. If he still won't stop check out these methods of containment within the home so he can still stay inside:

Is he neutered?? If not you need to do that and I am not sure that once they start they will stop--its a boy thing--got to mark the territory --and if that doesn't work then he will have to be outside or else you just suffer with a very smelly home--
