Is there any way to get HDTV channels without a cable box? Perhaps an antenna and a diplexer? Help!

If you have (or get) a late-model HDTV set, it will have a built-in digital tuner. All you need is to connect an antenna to the "digital" antenna input (if there is a separate input for digital signals). There is no such thing as a "digital" or "HDTV" antenna. You get any good antenna that picks up UHF and VHF (most digital stations are now on UHF, but many will move back to VHF in 2009). (VHF: Channels 2-13, UHF anything higher than 13). Check with this site http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx to see what digital stations are in your area and what kind of antenna you might need.

I'm afraid to answer any question because yahoo nailed me for helping someone else out even though I gave the person a known number for yahoo support and when I told them that I got nothing back.. nice!

Anyway, for HDTV you can get it free but you will need a HDTV tuner. Ifs its not in the TV when you buy it then you will have to get it. You can get a "Terrestrial Receiver" and antenna to get the free HDTV signals (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat03022&type=category&categoryRep=cat03000)

As you can see its expensive to buy it.. you might want to check the web to see what is avalible ot there.. you might only get a few good channels which will make it all a waste of money. Othe then that I dont know of a cheaper way

yes you can use a hi def antenna, just plug it in your ant (air, not Cable), input on the back of your tv

a diplexer allows you to split a line , for example you can use one coax line to recieve a sattelite and a cable, or antenna signal.
