1. Give yourself a name that's easy to remember but has impact. Try to have an "x" in it or even a "Z". Something like Zoroxa would be perfect.
2. Be teasingly mysterious. Don't tell anyone what they have to do, but warn them that they must have faith, and without it they are lost.
3. Come up with a new angle about the afterlife - something that will stick in people's minds. Tell them heaven is underwater but they will be given gills when they are reborn.
4. Have a day of judgement - an actual date that builds up the suspense. For instance 21st October 2014. People will be curious how you can be so precise and you can look mysterious and nod slowly and knowingly.
5. Have some good one-liners that you can sprinkle to all and sundry. For example "He who is blind will see into my heart more than the man who wears costly shades." And "If a cat doth bark, how can we be sure that it is not a dog?"

there's no point coz everyone already has a religion or just doesn't want to have one.
by the way preachers don't do it for money.
they do it for their god.
by the way u don't need to be rich to go to heaven.
heaven is so much more preferable than being rich.
poor people who are beleivers and don't have a single penny in their pocket can go to heaven.
being greedy for money is not a way to get you there.

If you have to ask forget it.It is something you have to do on your own.It has to inspire people and to make many people want to join and make them welcome.It has to give people choices and not ban them if they are wrong.You have to be working 24 hours a day and never refuse anyone.You'll have to make some rules and forgive your members if they break some from time to time.It has to be something to really believe in and give a purpose to life and beyond, but even if you could do all this on your own,i wouldn't bother because someone beat you to it and He's doing ok.

Study the methods of L. Ron Hubbard. That's why he did it. Said so from the getgo. Wanna be rich? start a religion. not many are going to be able to pull it off so well. probably have to bribe a few celebrities to swear in public that they love you.

Learn some quotes from philosophers and sharpen your speaking abilities. Joseph Smith did it and the televangelists have had many successes. Just do that and get desperate people to follow you.

the difference between religions and cults are how many followers.
start a cult and attract the weak and unwanted...it will soon be a religion and you will get tax exemption from the government.

Apparently, dying and coming back to life is a good place to start.
I'm not sure about taking that first step, though. The second step seems iffy.
