a true Christian is someone who aspires to the qualities of Jesus Christ....some one who tries their best every moment, every day to be compassionate, forgiving, accepting, tolerant to keep the mind, heart and body as pure as possible....
if you do your best, including forgiving your self for your own imperfections, then what more do you need to do to be a Christian...
its not about going to a church every sunday....its not about dogma and ritual and blind faith...it is about practical everyday lifestyle choices which contribute to benefit of all.....

I grew up in the church but never really got the point til I was 25. I learned that the Christian life is not about obeying rules and going to church every sunday. Those are things I can do in my own strength. Being a Christian is laying down your life and allowing Christ to work through you. That means doing the things that He tells you to do individually and trusting that He will supply the skills you need to do it. I couldn't speak in public, but I obediently got up on stage when I was supposed to, and He took over and spoke quite well.
I would suggest finding a person that can disciple you. Someone that you can trust that will push you in your faith. This isn't a walk that we can easily do alone. Like a lion, the devil is prowling to pick of the deer that have fallen behind and aren't connected to the group.

It's simply called Faith. If you find yourself doubting or having questions you can't seem to find answers to, go talk to the head of your Church. Finding a Church you feel comfortable and accepted in is a big help. Being around people who share the same beliefs and values as you do helps you to keep your faith. When you have questions, you have a family of fellow believers to help you through.
I'm a Christian and often times find myself wondering if all of this is for nothing, but after going to Church and being surrounded by other believers, my Faith is restored.
Remember it's a personal journey and you don't have to agree with everything a particular Church believes. Follow the Bible, but just remember that God was a loving God, like a Father and if you falter, He's always there to bring you back in. Christianity is not hate or fear, it's about love.
Good luck!!!

if you have faith and fear in God and Jesus, then you are a Christian because that's the most important thing being one. if you want to become a successful Christian, then go to church, read the bible, never let go of God and Jesus. if you are still not convinced, then let me tell you a short true story about my friend. when he was a baby, he accidently fell out of a building (after jumping on the bed which was right next to the window), and hit his head on the cemet ground. suprisingly, he only had a few scratches and no broken skull or bones at all. he also didn't fall from the 1st or 2nd floor, he fell from the 8th or 9th floor. shocking, isn't it? anwyays, i hope this answer helped you. hope you won't have anymore troubles becoming a successful Christian. God bless you.

I was baptized and saved about a month ago. I am still having a hard time "trusting". I am also trying to stop my bad habits. But having good christian friends in my life helps alot. I just spend alot of time with them to make sure I don't "forget" that I am now a christian. That is my way of staying successful

I tried, and I couldn't, because I do not believe in the Christian way of thinking and the myths tied to the Christian religion. I did not become "successful" because I do not view being Christian as being successful. I simply don't believe all the Christian fairy tales. Have you ever thought that possibly that is why you have so much trouble with it?

ok you have gotten some rude responses that are obviously not from chrisitians.
becoming a christian is ultra easy. accept jesus in your heart and follow his words (the Bible.) then check out a few churches to see how they're like, pick one you like, and ask to get baptized. it can be privatelty and done within minutes. like i could go to a pastor and say "i want to be baptized now" and after churchhe could set it up and have me baptized! some churches might have you go through confirmation, but that's to be a member of that denomination, not a chrisitan.
if you ever have any questions, PM me. also, check out www.gotquestions.org and christiananswers.net.
it's not hard becoming a christian. follow the ten commandments, follow through christ, and strive to do good in this world. worship the lord god, and congrats, ur a christian! get baptized and your sins are cleansed. you start as a new person.
good luck, and god bless.

I have for years, now I live every day in service to Our Father and He never leaves me. It was just so hard to give up the ways of the world. It's a challenge I face every time I leave my house or talk on the phone or type a message. But, I am comforted in knowing Jesus is also right here, guiding me along the righteous path.

To Karl C: Wow, I've seen your posts here, and you are just a fool. What are you purporting to be? Are you a hateful, disgusting extremist Muslim, or a hypocritical worthless christian?
To the OP: Don't let the christian holy book get you down. It's a bunch of hogwash written and revised so that the church leaders can control their "flock" and do as they please. If you're having trouble "becoming a christian," it probably means you're smart enough not to fall for the foolery. Use your head, think logically, and you'll be just fine.

First you have to find out what a Christian is. It is not a person who will go to war to kill his brother.
It is not a person who practices traditions of man as if it were doctrine from the Bible
It is not a person who is gay {according to the Bible }
Also take a look at 2 Timothy 3 : 1-7 and not be one of these also.
I am here if you want to talk
Thanks Bill
