I live in Ohio but any opinions will do. I got my first license plate in march and it expired on my birthday on June 3rd. I forgot all about it and got pulled over for it and now i have a court date.

Show up in court with the proper registration and the judge will probably throw you a bone.

License suspension is a possibility but if you have a decent record I don't think that will happen. A friend of mine in NC did the same thing, she was pulled over for having tags expired two months. She too had to go to court and she simply told the judge she forgot and was very sorry. I guess the humility worked because the judge just made her pay the fine ($175) plus the cost of renewal but threw out points on her license. She did mention the judge mentioned something about having a clean record or the penalty might have been much worse, which presumably means suspension.

Show up in court and see if they can give you a break... but if in your state is mandatory to have insurance if you want to have plates... they can suspend your drivers license.

And by now you have renewed it, right? Just go to court, say "I forgot" and pay the fine. I doubt they will take your license.
