Were you hunched over at all? Slouching can cause you to seem like you are 1-2 inches shorter.

Daniel answered correctly. I really noticed it when I was spending time with an 84 year old lady friend. She said she has shrunk over 5 inches in her life. After that conversation I started noticing that I had to adjust my rearview mirror in the afternoon, and back again in the morning from time to time. It's because from time to time I do very physical work and I GUESS it compresses my spine carrying those heavy weights. I've never really measured myself a.m. and p.m.
I remember reading about a guy who was just a BIT short to enlist. He spent a lot of time haning by his hands and his ankles, and several days lying in bed. His friends carried him on a stretcher to the physical so he would be tall enough. He made it!

You might have measured wrong, because normally the only time you shrink is when you get older.
Or its just your surroundings or some random light affect that made you seem taller.
Noone shrinks 1 inch everyday and then back again.

Your spine compresses throughout the day, and then goes back to normal while you sleep. Its nothing to worry about, it happens to everyone.
