A lot of airlines have bereavement fares that are 50% off regular full fare coach, but sometimes going to expedia or travelocity will result in a lower price.

You wont get free tickets. Look in the bucket shops online and you should get a highly discounted ticket esp if its at the last minute.

Sorry, but there are no free tickets. There are bereavement fares but those are limited to immediate family members.
