Take it back to Dixons. (Currys)

When I tried to do a update from Windows once, it said it has to verify the version before it could do the update, it told me several times it wasn't, so I kept trying as I knew it was, as I bought the laptop from Curry's with windows already on it, eventually it decided it was a genuine version. If I was you I would try a few more times and if it still doesn't do it, I would take it back to Dixon's. Sorry it may not be much help, but I just wanted you to know that I had had a problem with my genuine windows.

Re install windows, and check the serial, enter it EXACTLY!
If still no good, take it back to Dixon's, and get it replaced.

Hi Madeline, Microsoft products need to be validated with a "Product Key".

Go here to check yours out:

Hopefully, this'll sort out the hassle (that I too had, and it worked).
