i would advise you to dye your hair a golden honey light brown with a hint of blond like a Jennifer Aniston color. Bleach is what they use to dye peoples hair blond and it damages and drys out hair alot.. go for the light brown first and see how you like it, then maybe in the future if you keep your hair that color you can get blond streaks. and you can just keep adding more and more blond to it.

HI SEXY_PRAD!!!

You do not say how long have you being, dark blonde.
I suggest to apply a very good oil treatment for at least two weeks, then visit a good hair salon and have highlights done all over your hair.

If they know what they are doing they should find they just right, level for the highlights on the dark color you have at this time.

Then wait for about a month or so and do the same, but this time it would be only "RE-TOUCH", in between shampoos, oil treatment would be necessary, in order to keep your hair healthy, and to avoid damage or split ends.

Make sure to cut the ends, as this are the ones that will take the heat of the proses.
I'm pretty sure you will like the results. It will cost you, but it is worth it, better to have it done professionally, than experimenting.

GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS YOU & HAPPY NEW YEAR

I've done it twice. My hair is almost black its so dark. It ruined my hair both times. It eventually got down to almost white blond hair but it was straw by the time it got there. The first time I had really long hair and the bottom half of my hair still had previous dark dye in it, so when I went to get it bleached at a salon, they could only lighten up the top half because the bottom half that still had dye in it wouldn't go as light so it was an orange color while the top was blond. It was really bad. If you are determined to do it though, definitely go professionally to bleach it and then they'll be able to tell you how to slowly bring it down to blond. If you do it yourself, you need straight hair bleach with a TONER (important!) so you don't come out looking like Ronald McDonald (I did it without a toner). You have to go through the red and orange stage before it goes blond since your hair is dark. The next stage after orange is highlighter marker yellow, neon yellow, I've done that before too. So its just a matter of perfect timing as far as rinsing the bleach out so you don't end up with those colors and also toner. You can get all the stuff at Sally Beauty Supply pretty cheap. Then, after you bleach it, you'll have to redye it with the color blond that you want. Also, in case you wanna look like Madonna did in the 80s, you'll have to dye your eyebrows also and you can get that at the store too, its a special cream you use for eyebrows, dont use hair dye!! Good luck, but overall, I recommend not doing it. I've done it twice and wound up chopping off all my hair every time, not to mention looking like a raccoon the first time I did it with long hair.

If it is the first time you have `gone lighter` have it done at the hair-dressers. Their chemicals will be safer than the DIY type. They can `lift` the colour several shades lighter or lots of shades lighter to what ever you think suits you, and afterwards they can apply a toner to condition and soften the hair shade. Remember that when you lighten your hair you don`t dye it, you bleach it, you take your natural colour out of your hair, and this can damage it if you do not know exactly what you are doing. If your hair is fair and you want it darker, that is when you dye it; generally this process is safer. From the age of sixteen, I have had my natural medium brown hair, every colour under the sun!! Although it has been brown now for several years. But have fun and go blonde.

babe don't take any notice of the people saying don't do it. You can do it without spoiling your hair. What you have to do is use a pre-lightener before you do anything else with it. This will make it go very lite then after a couple of weeks go to the shade you want. but if you dont want to be very light for 2 weeks or so dont do it. I only ever use pre-lightener on my hair and it is a very, very light blonde. But never damages my hair.

Slowly... and professionally. You don't want to come out with orange hair. Trust me, the cost will be worth it. Also, professionals will help you choose the correct shade of blonde so you don't look like a fake barbie girl!

Go to a Salon, they know what they are doing. If you have to do it yourself because of the price, go to the Library or a Bookstore and read up on dyeing the hair. Usually has to be done in two different stages
