Bartholo said "No Master, I pray thee, for he stinketh." Jesus resurrected him anyway, and how did they get Lazarus to stop stinking?
Bonus Question: Did Jesus later try to hush up the story, cause it was too sensational?

One word: Pinesol...

You see, Jesus was a time traveller... And he happened to like spraying pinesol into the mouths of any who spoke out against him.

PS: Somehow I doubt getting people to "believe in Jesus Christ" was high on Jesus's agenda, you can base this either off of his humility, or the fact that he happened to have been physically standing in front of them... Either way.

Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead so that people might believe. And the scripture does not say how Lazarus stopped stinking but it would make since that if God can raise him from the dead that He (God) could take away the smell. And no Jesus did not try to hush up the story because if you read the entire account you will find that Jesus waited until Lazarus died to go. He (Jesus) did not go right when He got the news so that Lazarus could be raised from the dead!

lol .

There is no way that Jesus would raise anybody from the dead in a half decaying body. It would have been a complete restoration.

Just as when he cured the blind man. People say that if someone has been blind most of their life, or all of their life, the trauma of seeing again is devastating. In fact, it takes 7 years for a person to adjust.

Jesus when he cures, He does so fully. There is nothing left half done.

The last judgement for example. How on earth can we be reunited with our dead bodies? Because God will signal the last trumpet, the bodies in death will rise again, and the soul rejoined. The body is not going to be as it was, a pile of bones but a body fully restored.

If you don't believe that God made man out of the dust of the earth, then you will not believe in anything that came after it in the bible. This is why preaching Jesus to an evolutionist is usually fruitless and the believer usually walks away frustrated and can't figure out why the message of salvation is laughed at.

If I believed in evolution, I'd laugh too.

He resurrected Lazarus to show his power.

Lazarus took a bath to stop the stinking.

The pharisees and elders/teachers of the law WISHED they could hush up the story, but it was pointless. The word had spread. So no, I don't think Jesus did.

Perhaps he always smelled that way and they were used to it.

Jesus tried to hush up EVERYTHING. He was really embarrassed by his powers. It made it hard to have a normal conversation with people. You can look it up. Try Mark's gospel.

I am surprised you didn't ask how long Lazarus lived AFTER the miracle. That might have provided some real answers.

JESUS WANTED TO HUSH UP THE STORY

THOSE HEARING THE STORY WERE ANGRY ENOUGH TO KILL THEM

ONCE ALIVE LAZARUS DID NOT SMELL ANY MORE

LAZARUS WAS RESURRECTED TO BE AT Acts 2:1-4 to be of the heavenly.

I believe he raised him from the dead because it was one of the miracles that was suppose to take place. Also, God is all powerful. I don't think he does anything half- way. When he raised Lazarus he was alive again and did not stink. We cannot think the way God thinks. He is all knowing.

The miracle of Lazarus' resurrection served well as part of Jesus' ministry, both to illustrate the power of the Son of God and to increase faith in him and the resurrection.
If Jesus had the power from God to bring back to life,a dead body, could he not also remove any stench and decay?

When Jesus resurrected the body it would have stopped stinking, because Lazarause's body was no longer decaying. I would have to look in the Gospels for the answer to your second question.

Perhaps Lazarus was only in a coma, and they thought he was dead, and Jesus revived him because of the way his wife or someone was grieving. I don't know about your bonus question.
