the problems that could be create by emotional abuse and trauma would be a long list but the list would include such things as:
inability to identify own or others needs
inability to follow goals, dreams, and or career paths
inability to alter goals, dreams and or career paths in rational ways
inability to develop healthy relationships
inability to maintain healthy relationships
lack of self esteem
lack of self respect
obsession
addiction
paranoid thinking
irrational fear
irrational guilt
changeable views, beliefs, and ideas about self and others
'stuck' behaviours, thinking and or beliefs
promiscuity
frigidity
depression
hopelessness
anxiety
flash backs
negative self talk
and the list would be much longer than time permits me to write here.... but it needs to be said that it is unlikely that a person would have all of these signs and symptoms.. most would identify a few of them... but then most humans will identfy with some of these anyway... and people with mental illness may have these signs and symptoms affecting or affected by the signs and symptoms of their mental illness...

Well . . . Shrinks have discovered several hundred different facets of intelligence, and most IQ tests only evaluate 6 or 8 aspects of it. Creativity is part of intelligence, as is athletic or musical ability. Lots others, too, that they just don't evaluate. This partially explains why there are so many smart people who do stupid things. Nevertheless, recovering from childhood abuse may never be complete. Some of what they've done will leave permanant scars on your character. But what you need to do is learn what are healthy ways to interact with other people (and the rest of the planet), and figure out what unhealthy things you learned from your parents, and resolve to live a healthy life. This is easier said than done, and it won't come without you crying a few rivers of tears, and enduring some heartbreaks and disappointments. But it's necessary, because that's just how life is. Best wishes,

If people who have been abused and traumatised and don't get the help they need, it can lead to severe mental health issues including severe depression. You may feel suicidal/homicidal and become very isolated from the rest of the world.
If you get the help that you need, councelling, therapy, medication..... etc, you probably wont feel as bad. You may still suffer from depression or other mental health issues but they wont be as severe.
