"father forgive me for they do not know what they do" this was said by jesus in the bible when he was dying on the cross so if jesus was god then why would he speak to his father in heaven? jesus was the "son" meaning he was of jehovah not of himself

I agree with you, if Jesus would supposed to die for our sins why would he say the following and be speaking to God (The Father) like so:

46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi,[c] lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46)

Also how can 1+1+1= 1 surely it's 3. These three God's also have ranks, 1st the Father, 2nd the Son, 3rd the Holy Spirit.

It would be considered herasy by some if I said "in the name of the holyspirit, the son and the father". We're also told each person from the Trinity has some attribute that aren't proper for the other; for example the father is the creator and destroyer, the son is the saviour and redeemer and the holy gohst is the lifegiver.

Just doesn't make sense.

What scripture refence do you take your question from the Bible says "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do" He doesnt seek forgiveness from the Father for He never sinned against the Father. As to why He is God, scriptures John1:1, John 14: 8-11 and Revelation 1:8 are some scriptures that can help you in acquiring Kindom unsderstanding. God is triune and One, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I pray that liberation by His Word and Spirit will touch on your doorstep even as we enter the new year. Be the more richer. Amen

Yes, it clearly shows that Jesus and his Father, Jehovah are conversing. This wasnt the only incident.

During Jesus' baptism, God spoke and said 'This is my son, to whom I am pleased,' obviously the one speaking was different from the one speaking about.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!

Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

Just my point same thing happens when Jesus gets Baptized by john and God says this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased then the holy ghost descends like a dove upon Jesus.

Shows he was separate from the father That why Jesus called him father in your verse above. Holy ghost is separate too.
They all had one purpose like a family but were separate like a family all having the same last name or purpose.

"I am in the Father and the Father is in me.
Is explaining that he Jesus is like his (father God ) just like you are like your father and mother. Meaning you look like or are like your parents. This is not hard to understand think about it Jesus taught the basics when he taught parable's .so people would understand him simply.

Well, there's something called the Holy Trinity, or something like that (not sure about the translation, because i'm not a native speaker of English). There's God Father (wich is basically God), God Son (Jesus) and God Spirit (helped revive Jesus).

That is great reasoning...if you keep reading the scriptures you will find a lot of them that will let your common sense tell you Jesus was Jehovahs son and not God himself.

In my religion Jesus, Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost are three seperate people and not one and not a trinity as brought up in other answers. Therefore this scripture makes more sense because he's talking to his Father and asking Him to forgive those that have crucified Him.

Jesus said " Father forgive them for they know not what they do". He was accused by some of the Jewish authorities of blaspheming by forgiving sins ( when only God could do that), and claiming he was God. He was Son only in relation to his earthly life. Just like we are sons and daughters of God.
