Most water companies put warnings on their bottles 'Do not refill' .. why is this ? is filling up with tap water dangerous after rinsing the bottle ? if it is dangerous, doesn't it affect the water they've put inside to sell .......?!

The sealed bottles they sell are sterilized. Once it is open, and once you put unsterilized water into it, there could potentially be bacteria in it. So they put the warning on there so you don't sue them if you get sick from the water you put into your bottle. But it is no more dangerous than using a cup for tap water.

You can refill the bottles yourself, if you want to, but they can't be done commercially. The bottles are made of such thin plastic, that if they were sterilized, which involves cleaning with very hot water and steam, they would literally melt.

I refill them a couple of times (very occasionally) with filtered water (Britta filtered water) at home, but usually, they're tossed out in the trash when they're empty.

I just wash out the bottles in very hot water then refill and take to class.

The moisture from the bottle and the bacteria from your mouth drinking from the bottle makes ideal conditions for the bacteria to breed and multiply. It's very unsanitary. If you're head-strong on reusing the same water bottle wash it with antibacterial dish soap before you reuse it.

do not refill means that you cannot take it back to the bottling company itself and refill it.

also, because of the germies in our mouths, refilling the water bottle too much can let that crap just stew, which can make you sick (or keep you sick).

hope this helps!

No, it's due to the germs that will grow after you backwash in the sanitized container. There product is germ free during the packing procedure but it drinking from it and refilling it again and again will help germinate and grow little germ friends.
